Just when you least expect it…

Are London Yogis more fun?

Only in London…

Went to a Yoga class while I was abroad and when I put my tennis shoes in the cubby,  spotted these festive leapord boots! Kept looking around the class trying to figure out who they belonged to~ with no avail.

She must have been a Yogini with a wild streak… how fun!

Playing with Color for the Holidays

Is it just us, or when you go Holiday Shopping do you find that you end up buying a few things for yourself?

Well, if you do get tempted…we suggest that you pick up a little something with color in it!

Instead of buying another all black, Little Black Dress this holiday season, why not buy something like this to add some wow.

I (Deborah) ran into Norwegian Image Consultant Anne Berit Olsvik  from Total Image when she attended the SHINE conference in November. On cocktail night Anne threw on this sexy little number!  It’s an unusual color combination of black, green, purple and blue … so youthful and festive… and it looks fabulous on Anne!

What might a little color do for you? Send us what you plan to to wear for your holiday party and we’ll post your picture!

Dressing Chic with Sensible Shoes…but How?

We hear this all the time :

I can’t wear heels because…

  1. I have problems with my feet… and that leads to the next problem…
  2. I can’t wear skirts or dresses because sensible shoes look horrible with them~

The first thing you have to do is take a leap and just try something new that you might have never thought of trying before.

Yesterday I was working with a client who had an amazing story. Ann (age 60) had recently made a big change in her life by leaving her job as a scientist, to start her own business. All her life she had been dressing very conservatively for religious reasons and so she asked me ( JoJami)  to take her shopping to find her new self!

Even though she has nice legs Anne had always worn long skirts or pants, and of course, sensible shoes.

The boots from Aquatalia are pricey but definitely worth the splurge!

Knowing that we had shoe issues..that’s where we started. If you don’t have updated shoes you will never feel polished. She had never worn heels so we decided that she should have a nice pair of cool, flat boots!
Off we went to Nordstoms!  Of course, they have an amazing shoe department and after trying on many styles she finally found a pair (Aquatalia from Zappos) that fit properly and were chic and comfortable.

At first sight Ann said, “NO, the toes are too pointy.” I asked her to just try them on and she was shocked! Yes, they were comfortable and gave her support too! Round one of trying something new!  Ann was thrilled with her new purchase and kept telling me, at least 1o times that day, how COMFORTABLE these boots were!

Next, went on to find her a new suit. Slowly we started off with pant suits (this was in her comfort zone), but then I brought her in a pencil skirt to try and some black tights. What a great sport, she tried them all on and after a few hmms and aahs…decided that she LOVED her new look, and so I put back all the pants. She looked like she had lost 10 pounds and was now a new woman!  Her problem of having to wear sensible shoes was solved and now she could move forward into wearing things that were more flattering to her figure~

BEFORE: Ann in a typical outfit.

AFTER: Ann in her new pencil skirt. Instant makeover!

Best of all she wrote me a sweet note that said, “Thanks for  walking me to the mountain top of transformation, change and a great new image!”

Ann you are one brave woman and I applaud your courage to keep exploring new things, best of luck to you!

Updating Your Overcoat

We’re well into winter, so we are checking in with you… how is your winter coat?

  • Is it in good shape or looking tired?
  • Does it make you feel good when you put it on?
  • Do you have the right hat and gloves to make you feel polished?
  • If you buy a coat you love and adore you will have it a long time and enjoy it more than just an ordinary one!

Here is JoJami and her husband on a recent trip to Paris

My favorite winter coat is a faux fur in soft green and brown that I bought over 8 years ago. Even though it is old, I bought this DKNY brown cap to wear with it!  (You can you see my new leopard bag too…)

BTW… This is my wonderful husband, Eric  and we just celebrated our 25 year anniversary!! (photo by our daughter Tessa Tyler)

Accessories are great because you don’t have to lose weight~

Yes, I admit it… I (JoJami) tend to be absolutely drawn to anything with a leopard print and you have certainly seen enough photos of me on this site to prove it… But at least I admit it!!

That being said, for the last year, I have really put all my restraint into place and purposefully have NOT purchased anything with any wild animal associated with it.

UNTIL I saw a photo of a women in a really cute outfit that was just so simple:

1) Red cropped flatfront pants  (J.Crew)

2) White blouse with a little blue collar

3)electric blue platform peep toe pumps

4) an oversized leopard bag

My new favorite handbag!

That bag just pulled the entire outfit together! Plus, I justified in my head, that  I have never owned a leopard bag and have always wanted one.

So a few weeks ago I happened to be looking around a  local boutique (Peter Kate Shoes) and spotted it. The perfect leopard bag. It was lightweight, had pockets on the inside to stay organized and best of all the print was subtle with both black and brown in it. Talk about versatile..

So, I broke down and purchased my new favorite thing…

This new M.Z. Wallace handbag. (Nordstroms)

As long as I keep my outfits simple, this bag gets me raves every time I swing it up to the counter ! (and I am still looking for those red pants~)

It is actually a very subtle print…just enough but not too much and it even has a bit of  red on the sides of the black leather  trim!

There is nothing like a wonderful new accessory in your closet to feel like a new person!

(P.S. Don’t forget, what ever you see on this site that inspires you.. you can find at almost any price,  if you do a little looking)

Around 40 and Casual dressing

I love to see women on the street looking effortlessly chic!  So, yesterday when I  was pulling into my driveway, I saw a friend of mine, Carroll Laurence looking fabulous as usual!

A wonderful suede jacket sets the tone for this casual chic outfit!

Boots that fit the leg nicely and have top stitching give them a little extra flair!

JJ:” Can I take your photo?”, I asked, (digging into my new Leopard, MZ Wallace bag to find my camera…( “You look adorable!”

Carroll: WHY?

(See…it is women who always dress great, that can never understand how HARD it can be for others to do so…)

JJ: “Because you look great and you are an inspiration to other moms!”

Enough said and isn’t she is a great sport!

Thanks Carroll!
