Color is where it all starts when building a wardrobe. And red is a great place to start. This week I am showcasing 3 fashion bloggers over 40 and how they wear red for a vibrant, youthful look. Take a peek at these lovely ladies in red!
Plaid is a hot trend and this season it goes electric in bold blues and burning reds.
Frugal fashionista and blogger Sue, (who you met when we talked about Nectarine) found this fun plaid skirt at a thrift store. It originally fell to her calves, but she envisioned it as a shorter, flirtier skirt, so she had it shortened, and voila! What was once old is new again!
Playfulness or an element of surprise is a big part of Sue’s signature style. Although she prefers classic silhouettes, she loves to dial-up the fun factor with color, pattern or a quirky accessory.
Here she has paired a blue and white gingham shirt and red V -neck for a playful, preppy look. This is a great way for this Vancouver blogger to brighten up a rainy west coast day.
Be sure to check out Sue’s Blog: A Colourful Canvas, and while you are there get some inspiration on injecting more color into your own wardrobe.
Pretty in Peplum
Nothing creates a prettier silhouette than a peplum top or jacket. It contours and hugs your curves in all the right places.
On her 41st birthday, Georgette celebrated with a casual dinner but she wasn’t in the mood to wear jeans. So she opted for a black & white striped pencil skirt and this darling red peplum top. What a fantastic birthday outfit!
Georgette calls her personal style classic with a bit of trend thrown in. She loves color and tries to incorporate as much of it as she can into her outfits.
Don’t miss Georgette’s everyday and special occasion outfits that she posts on her blog Grown and Curvy Woman , where she writes about the forties fast becoming the best years of her adult life! So happy to hear that, Georgette!
I’ve said it many times before. I love sheath dresses. They are perfect for any occasion and any tine of year.
Blogger Antoinette agrees! Her red sheath dress fits her like a glove and easily transitions from one season to the next. Sometimes she throws on a blazer or a sweater for chillier days and nights and say she has even worn a turtleneck underneath!
At 52 years old, Antoinette philosophy is simple – She wears what is comfortable, yet flattering to her figure. She knows there are trends and styles that she’ll never be able to wear nor does she want to. She loves all shoes, but especially heels because they accentuate her legs.
Antionette is a frugal fashionista who loves to shop, but loves to save even more. You can see Antoinette’s fabulous finds and frugal fashion at her blog, Fashion and Fun After Fifty.
