There aren’t many 40+ fashion models out there, but there are plenty of 40+ fashion bloggers out there. This week, I am featuring three of them and their fabulous animal print street style. I hope you find some inspiration!
A cardinal rule for wearing animal prints is that a little goes a long way. You want to make a fashion statement without being mistaken for the animal itself.
When I first saw this picture of Lissy, it was the eye-catching combination of fuchsia and leopard print that caught my attention. So often when we wear animal prints, we want to pair them with matching solids like black, brown or beige.
It’s so refreshing to see the bold pink paired with this gorgeous Max Mara leopard print jacket. That’s a solid wardrobe staple she will have for years.
Lissy, who chronicles her fashion finds and daily outfits at A Girl in Boston, says she isn’t locked into a particular style. One day she’s a girly girl wearing pearls and bows and the next day you’ll see her in something a bit on the edgy side. That’s why she loves fashion; it allows her to express herself in a different way each day.
It’s clear that women over 40 love the animal print trend, and if you are as lucky as Adrienne, you can pick up a trendy piece without breaking the bank.
Adrienne is a native northern Californian who classifies her personal style as “Sonoma Chic”. She says her style goal is to look casual and effortlessly put together and to be comfortable at the same time.
Adrienne creates her “Sonoma Chic” wardrobe with a combination of secondhand and high-end purchases. She loves to mix the two, and it’s not unusual for her to wear a thrift store blouse with a high-end designer handbag, as seen here.>>
To dress up her look, she added heels.
It makes perfect sense then that Adrienne’s blog is named The Rich Life (on a budget). Be sure to stop by to see her lovely secondhand and high-end combinations.
I love how even the smallest and simplest piece of animal print can make a huge statement.
If you are a more conservative dresser, try an animal print accessory to start, and work your way up from there.
Here’s Judith, the creator of Style Crone. Look how well she has accessorized this outfit with a beautiful leopard print pillbox hat and belt. Both of these accessories were estate sale finds. I love the way they pop against her oxblood sweater.
Judith’s blog is dedicated to the older woman, in her most creative, outrageous, authentic, powerful, adventurous, funny, and proud era.
Judith says she is “always inspired by diversity and individual expression and finds inspiration everywhere!” Her unique personal style reflects that.
One item that’s become a must for any outfit Judith wears is a hat. She loves hats and once even co-owned a hat shop.
