If you think fashion over 40 is often boring or expensive, think again. Here are photos sent in by some 40+ style bloggers that prove looking fabulous after 40 is affordable AND fun.
What comes around goes around, and that’s true in the world of fashion. It’s a good thing for Joann, an “outfit blogger” who loves sharing her frugal finds with her readers. Joann picked up this dress for only $4.50 at a local thrift store, then added this cool leather belt and a pair of Steve Madden gladiator sandals to finish off her look.
Joann’s style philosophy is simple. She sticks with solid colors, clean, simple and classic cuts. She has a love of belted blazers and tops, and pencil skirts make up a large part of her wardrobe. Dresses are one of her passions, as well as trench coats and sky-high stilettos, since she’s on the short side.
Clothes from the 1940′s and 1950′s are her favourite and she tries to incorporate different inspired pieces from those decades, without looking costume-y, or like she’s stepped out of a time capsule. A hard-working, single mom, Joann limits her spending to under $40 an item. It looks like she’s mastered looking Chic on the Cheap!
Be sure to check out more of Joann’s frugal finds and her daily outfits at her blog Budget Chic.

Many of you have emailed me to ask if you can wear colored denim. My answer is always “Yes!”. Colored denim, or any colored type of pant, is modern and youthful and a great staple in a 40+ wardrobe.
Tracy, a style blogger and personal fashion consultant agrees and enjoys taking her clients shopping for the perfect pair.
Here, Tracy pairs her green J.Crew chinos with a navy and white striped jacket and a navy lace top. She loves to add a pop of color to her outfits, and in this case, the pink scarf definitely does the trick!
She says another favorite go-to outfit is her tailored blazer with boyfriend jeans and platform sandals or a simple tee + fancy statement necklace.
