Look out Ladies. Big, bold, bossy stripes have invaded the fashion world. Crisp and fresh, stripes make this year’s fashions look nautical and preppy , graphic and mod and sometimes even, jailbird inspired! (LOL).
You’ll find horizontal stripes, vertical stripes, classic black and white stripes, pastel stripes and brightly colored stripes. Here’s a fashion recipe for how to get the look.
There are many way to wear stripes this spring including stripes with stripes, stripes with florals, stripes with graphic patterns, but the simplest way to wear stripes and look fab is to keep it classic.
BLACK AND WHITE STRIPES
Here’s what we have done. We took a basic black pencil skirt and paired it with a very ” now” black and white striped wrap blouse. It’s simple, elegant, and right on trend and would be perfect in an office environment. Keeping things chic I added these beautiful spectator slingbacks. Black and white stripes always looks classy.
Slingbacks are a fantastic choice for an outfit like this because
- the two- tone picks up on the blouse and gives the outfit some life as compared to a pair of plain black pumps and
- the slingback adds a touch of sexy to the look. Women are always asking us if they can wear an open toe sandal to the office and we say, not if you work in a very conservative field like law or finance or a corporate environment. Instead, if you want something summery but that covers your toes, then a slingback is a good choice.
O.K. moving on…. I chose this streamlined leather tote, which look very modern with the color blocking effect. Then we added really interesting bold jewelry, bold to go with the boldness of the blouse with its strong, wide stripe. Dainty, small, plain jewelry would be lost.
Finally, how do you like the scarf? I went crazy when we saw this. Polka dots and stripes go really well together and that burst of yellow just adds such a beautiful freshness to this outfit. Can’t you just see that scarf casually tied on the handle of the bag..flowing in the wind?…very Grace Kelly. All it really needs now is a pair of big black Jackie O sunglasses.
So there you have it – one easy way to take this trend from runway to reality. Would you wear this look?
