Dull, dry, damaged looking hair. I (JoJami) have been noticing that my hair is not as shiny as it once was…could it be that being over 40 and dying my hair over the years has caused it to look frizzy and lifeless?
There are several things that can cause your hair to loose it’s luster:
Home vs. salon hair coloring. Personally I have noticed that when I color my hair at home it tends to dry it out more than when I have it done professionally.
Using the right hair products. There are lots of choices out there to use, but the best thing to do is to make sure that if you do color your hair you use a product specifically for hair that has been processed. It will have more moisturizer in it.
Try not to wash your hair every day. Daily washing can really stress out your hair. Try skipping a day or two between washings.
Too much heat. Do you dry your hair with a blow dryer on high heat? That can really give those fragile strands a workout! Try using the hot then cool button to alternate the heat on and off.
Use that little cone on the hairdryer! Most blowdryers have a little “cone” that you can pop on and off the end of the dryer. This little piece is key in keeping your hair from getting the frizzes.
Curl or Straightening? After all the drying now you are probably going to be curling or straightening your hair. Make sure you add a little more product into your hair to protect it from the hot irons!
