Fabulous After 40: On the Street in Naples, Florida
Hi there! JoJami here and today I’m in Naples, Florida and on the prowl for more fabulous ladies on the street!
Luckily I spotted Mary Greg, who happened to be from all places, Philadelphia, PA (I’m from Delaware, so that makes us neighbors!)
Mary had just been walking all over The Naples Antique Fair in her pretty tunic top (Steinmart) Leggings (Zara) and adorable flats (Me Too!) and was on her way home when I stopped to snap a few shots of her.
She was so enthusiastic about fashion and said that she loves to mix up designer brands with other things she picks up, like this sheer tunic from Stein-mart. Meanwhile her beautiful John Hardy ring makes quite a splash! This is something she can wear everyday whether she is dressing up or down.
For accessories, she had on a South Sea Pearl necklace that her husband gifted her from Brow Antiques (New Orleans) and a pretty gold bangle bracelet.

Which look would you wear? Please comment below:

While I’m being rather negative (forgive me!), why have we started using the word “gifted” instead of simply saying “gave”?
I like the outfits worn by both ladies, but the visor on Barbara??? Oh, honey … no.
Hi Budget Chic! Yes, two very different styles but both ladies were so confident and having a good time! That’s what it’s all about! (ps…love your site
)
These ladies rock! I love their bold style!
I would definitely wear the capris and wrap top! Love the print capris!!! I’m still not convinced about leggings, but that top would look cute over slim jeans, too. And I’m grateful to see stylish women in FLATS! Heels are cute, but flats are for real life.
Oops sorry I meant Barbara!
EEk! No sandals without a pedicure! Just think how Mary would have looked with some bright coral toes and a straw bag?
What about plus size women? What trends work for them?
Something casual like cotton T-shirt &shorts with a pair of sneakers from Walmart.
Both looks are great – but the second lady needs to lose the sun-visor. It makes her look like she’s ready for the old folks farm. Some good SPF-60 would serve her better.
Hi French twist woman!! (How I love to do my hair up in a French twist!)… Thanks for chiming in… we will check out your blog too!
LOL Cathy!!! Yes, isn’t it great to be inspired to dress up and always look you best! Hope I do run into you!!! Cheers! JJ
Hi Purnella,
Good point about looking behind… and I can tell you this lady looked great from all angles. Also, these are two completely different looks! One is more romantic and casual and the other is conservative. The idea at FAF is to take apart the looks here and get ideas on how to come up with your own unique style!
I loved both looks! I think it is fantastic that JoJami finds these women and shows them off- what fun. I am so happy to see real women on this site. Fabulous After 40 is my favorite place to be!
I loved both looks – I think both look very chic!
But I especially liked the second one – the white wrap blouse and capris. But I agree with others about the print. It’s very cute, but I am not a print person, so I would pair with solid colors. But it does inspire me to look past what I usually do. I thought the look was just fabulous. I liked the necklace, but I could also see a beaded necklace in colors to complement the capris.
Fabulous job in finding these two fabulous women!
I like everything but the print on the capris, although I know that Steinmart seems to almost specialize in them, especially in FL Being not even 5 feet, the print makes me look strange, and my husband HATES that “florida old lady” look. Actually, I already wear both these styles in the summer–sans print on the capris, going instead with solid colors (we live far north, so spring is still pretty chilly, and minus the ring bling. The first look, I think, could go to Boston, NYC, etc. for shopping, while the second would be great for maybe a wine tour of the Fingerlakes, or a 4th of July picnic at Lake Ontario. Too much walking and the second shoes would not be good, but black flats, to me, are de rigueur. But–having lived in Florida–the second look is almost a uniform.
I like the first look. But, to be honest, we need to look at it from behind. The problem with the legging look is the backside. This tunic looks a bit short to do the back justice. You need to assure us that it looks just as good going as it did coming.
As for the second look…it screams conventional, ladies-who-lunch… Honestly, it is so obvious. Yes, the shirt is darling. The pants are interesting. And it is nice to see a woman not in jeans and t-shirt. But all the rest screams OLD. Why not grab a fashionable bag? A shoe with a little heel? A necklace that isn’t so formal for such an informal look?
Sorry, but the second look misses chic…and the first…let us have a back view first…
I like both looks. I would definitely wear the Brooks Brothers top, the pants are cute but I usually go for solids.
I am in naples right now! Mary looks lovely, but it is so hot today that i only have eyes for that cool brooks bros shirt and beachy capris. Mary’s ring would look great with that outfit too! Everyone here wears the big rings, including myself. I will have to be more careful putting together my outfis in case i run into jo jami!
So glad to see others are still enjoying the black leggings with a sharp tunic! I keep holding my breath, hoping this comfortable (but chic) look will stick around through summer too.
They both look fabulous! The second outfit is what I love to wear here in Florida! I wear capris and sandals year round and love having pretty jewelry to compliment my outfit! I don’t have a top like that…but it looks great! Love seeing some Florida fashions! Thanks! ♥
LOVE the white Brooks Brothers blouse. That would be my choice though I would probably choose a solid capri. But she looks wonderful and accessorized well, too! I recently attended a jewelry party where the guests were over 40, and here is my take on that event. Enjoy!

Yes, they are casual, comfortable but not wearing jeans and a t-shirt! How refreshing!
Both ladies look fantastic! Love that Florida, laid back look. Wanda in Edmonton
