Have you tried permanent make-up?

Are your eyebrows on the thin side?

In the spirit of being open to new adventures in midlife, we have lots of great topics in the weeks Blogging Boomers Carnival #167, which is being hosted this week over at  our boomer buddy,  Wendy Spiegel’s blog, Gen Plus.

A few of this weeks topic include, what it was like trying out permanent  make-up,(aka tattooing your eyebrows) and if you are feeling fat, unhealthy and unsexy, how this might affect your sex life!

What is a Blogging Carnival? It is a group of  some of the top boomer bloggers that specialize in various topics that are all “boomer” related! We always enjoy checking in with them weekly and adding our own comments to the discussion, and we would love to hear your voice too!

Enjoy!

If you’re considering permanent makeup, you might require expert help from a professional makeup artist before you go ahead. Suggest finding someone who is VERY EXPERIENCED to help you understand exactly what browshape/lip shape suits your face shape. I have seen people with mad eyebrows in completely the wrong colour and place – and they’re there for life! How depressing would that be?

Remember, tattoos are permanent… they don’t fade away even after several years. Some tattoos can be lasered off, but this is expensive and may not work very well.

Spend the time and money to get only the best tattooist. Get recommendations and make sure you see plenty of photos of their work. This is serious stuff!!!

  2. Hi Micky,
Yes you are sure right! Great tips! We agree that you should never get permanent make up on a whim. You must see real clients and like the way they look. Also, you might want to get a professional brow person to get your brows all trimmed up ,plucked and in the right shape first. You can even have her “draw them on where you want them first and then go to your permanent make up appointment!

  4. Hi

I have worked for many years in the semi permanent makeup industry and I agree with Micky’s comment re getting the right professional advice and artist. Just to clarify if done by a permanent makeup technician (not a normal tattooist) the make is semi permanent, i.e it fades over time. It differs from one person to the next, i.e life style being in the sun etc, also the skin type of the person having the procedure.

The procedure is not permanent, the makeup you want for example at 25 will probably not what you want at 50. At the very least you should stay away from a tattooist who promises you that it will last for life!
