Along with this spring’s sporty chic trend come a whole new crop of shoes that are both practical and chic. If you’ve been wondering what to wear with tomboy pieces like baseball jackets, silky track pants, mesh tops, shirtdresses, sporty cropped pants or just a anything else in your closet, here’s your answer.
Mesh has to be one of the top textures this spring. You’ll find it in a lot of mesh tops out there for sure, but I think mesh shoes are pretty high up there too.
Mesh is sporty and a little sexy. It looks great incorporated into a flat shoe or it’s look very chic when worn as a heeled shoe. Perforated leather is a similarly huge trend. Shoes with perforation will give an average outfit and edgy look…and we all know a little edge is youthful these days!
Shop around and you will find everything from a classic pump with a subtle mesh detail to a very sexy, strappy sandal with major perforation.
Slip on Sneakers
Comfy and Cute. How often do you find that? Slip on sneakers score big this season. With countless styles, colors, textures and patterns out there you’re sure to find one
that expresses the true you. Wear them with anything athletic inspired or something tailored or even feminine for a stylish twist.
The new sport sandals are so thick and on the chunky that some will make you look like you have a book strapped onto the bottom of your foot. Designers took inspiration from brands like Birkenstock, Teva. Many of the new sports shoes resembled pool slides and water shoes. Neophrene is prevalent. Kenzo did a bright colored blocked, neophrene sandal that looks like a water shoe. Chole did a neophrene slide with in black and white with a metal plate that look like a shower sandal. You’ll also see neophrene open toe booties and sexy neoprene slides with heels.
Straps and lots of them are at the top of the “what’s in” fashion checklist this summer. They’re being worn with the new luxe athletic inspired styles to dress them up. For example, you’ll see silky track pants with super strappy heels or a baseball jacket and pencil skirt with sexy straps.
Here’s something that has been around for a while and is getting more popular. I’ve been noticing quite a few women 40+ wearing these lately including Oprah on her latest cover. They offer the comfort of a runner and the height of a heel which many find appealing.
