Mixed Prints and Fresh Neutrals ~ What I Wore

I love getting your emails, especially your photos. It proves that style doesn’t end at a certain age. Take a look at some of the inspirational outfits submitted this week.

Fresh Neutrals

Line, who writes a fashion blog in Norway, looks right in white! She’s created a very slimming look by dressing in one color top and bottom (white) and then contrasting that with a different color jacket over top. This creates a long lean line that makes you look taller and slimmer.

Any color jacket would have done the trick, but I like the way she chose this beautiful neutral shade. White + neutrals is a very classy way to wear white. It brings the white to life, but still keeps the outfit looking elegant. The blazer also adds a dressy touch to this casual outfit. And her melon bag  adds a touch of excitement!

Nothing says summer quite like gingham and daisies. Fashion blogger Sue looks fresh in her baby blue and white gingham garden party dress. Sue has the right idea with nude heels. A dark shoe would be too overpowering for this feminine dress. Avoid heavy accessories too.

Perfect Prints

Prints are making a huge statement this season. Whether they are graphic, ethnic, floral or stripes, you can bet that if you are wearing any type of print, you’ll be on-trend. Bertha blossoms in this floral print skirt. The solid black camisole balances the floral print and the wedges add focus to the skirt. Very pretty, Bertha.

Mixed Prints When you can’t decide on just one print, why not try mixing and matching prints? Julia mixes a polka dot blouse with Chevron print pants. What makes them work well together is the common color scheme. Black and white tie the outfit together even though the prints are dramatically different. Julia’s striped tote and red heels are playful and fun. You look very confident Julia. Please send us more of photos of your mixing prints magic!  Don’t be shy!  Email me your photos, your age, where you are from, and any details about your outfit to: myphoto@fabulousafter40.com . You’ll be featured on the Facebook page as well as in an upcoming What I Wore. I love hearing from you and cheering you on, Glam Gals!

  1. Love that chic white and neutral look Line is wearing! Really sharp!

  2. Speaking of Camouflage…we are huge fans of the print because that is exactly what they do. As ‘masters of disguise’ (as we like to call them) they’re a great way to downplay what lies beneath…those areas that we’re not so fond of. They bring out our personality brilliantly and add life to look in an instant. Great post. Anita.xx

  3. Rebecca is such a gorgeous lady and I am following her fabulous blog for a quite a while.

Thank you for introducing the other stylish women as well. Deborah, you mentioned that Line has a blog but I couldn’t find the name or link. Maybe you can help?

    Thank you,
    Lady of Style

  4. Really cute clothes and women. I’m over 60 so there are some things I won’t wear now that I wore when I was 40. I would and think I could wear all of these outfits.

  5. Thanks for the feature….I think my 40s are the best years of my life!!!

  6. I am 52 and love fashion. I work in an office and can dress casual if I want. I wear jeans about 2 days of the week. I just found this web-site and love it. Just recently I was wondering about wearing skinny jeans etc.. I was reading about how skinny jeans should be worn. I was happy to see that I do wear them with over sized blouses.

I feel great and feel comfortable now. I think at any age we may NOT look age appropiate. I’ve seen girls in there 20’s that look in there 40’s vice versa.

    Thanks again!!
