On the street in NYC…what to wear to be comfortable

NYC last week, looking very bleak!
Last week I (JoJami) took off to NYC for some culture and good food! After getting so many letters from you ladies on how hard it is to come up with outfits to wear that you can be comfortable in and not look frumpy, here is a quick peek into what some of your options might be!
First off, you have to really plan ahead. We had planned on spending the entire day walking around the city. Our first stop was going to be the NYC Botanical Gardens and afterward we planned on visiting the Frick Museum. The next day we scheduled a walk in Central Park and were off to rent bikes in Chelsea. On top of everything, rain was in the forecast!

My friend Lisa called me the week before and was worried that all she had was flip flops to wear. I told her to make a quick trip to the discount shoe store DSW and find some cute walking tennis shoes.

These Sketcher tennis shoes are comfy and cute!
Meanwhile, I took my own advice and found some updated Converse that had a little more support than the normal flat ones.

JJ looking comfy (the rain had not started yet!)
Well, our plans did change since it started raining like crazy…but we did make it to the Frick and HIGHLY recommend it! More over we walked our booties off all day and the next in comfort! (However, our hair didn’t do as well as our feet!)
Share with us your favorite photo of your “summer touring” outfit and we can share it with everyone!

How timely! I’m headed to NYC next month for business, but need some comfortable shoes. Preferrably with heighth. I look forward to more pictures/recommendations.
Thank you so much for posting these pics. I am always going places and touring places and on my feet all day walking. You cannot walk all over a city or park in flat sandals, your feet just hurt too bad at the end of the day. I must have some comfortable outfits and especially shoes for walking all day but dont want to look frumpy. Knee length walking shorts would also look good with these shoes featured. I need cute shoes with alittle more arch support.
These outfits are perfect and paired with some comfortable shoes. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures from readers also.
We love our Squeezy Tes on the streets of New York. Our president/designer and all of us sales ladies wear them ALL around town.
Hi Lynne,
Glad to hear these are helpful. We hope more people will send in their photos so others can see how easy it is to be comfortable and not look like a typical tourist!
What are Squeezy Tes shoes? Do they have another name? I tried google but it didn’t come up with any info. I haven’t heard of this footware Down Under.
Hey.
Both of you are so COOL!
Why didn’t you give me a holla’ when you were in town doing Art Stuff? Perhaps another time, just let me know when!
I have to walk around NYC for about 3 hours doing my Art Gallery Walks-Chelsea @http://nycartgallerywalks@blogspot.com all the time, I will share a BIG secret! I have found that wearing East Indian Tunics made of 100% cotton is the way to go. I don’t have to wear tank tops or show a lot of skin in order to stay cool; keeping a fresh and professional look all day. Also, making sure that my clients are looking at the Art and not at (boobs) me! Trying to stay cool and age appropriate is definitely a challenge that I have accomplished. My favorite shoes are also Sketchers for style and comfortability. Always carry a large tote for my water bottle and other necessities.
