Reinvent Yourself

We say it all the time, “reinvent yourself.” But that is no good unless we can give you actual tips on how to do it!
This month’s issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine has a wonderful article on it (page 63).
Here are a few quick tips that you can start you at least thinking about trying something new.
- Try a new updated hair cut
- Get into shape!
- Try shopping for something that is a little more fitted than you are used too!
- Try NOT to buy black!
- Try on something that is very sleek and simple
- Buy some black eyeliner
- Try a new lipstick in a softer color
Please write us and tell us of what you have bought recently to update your wardrobe!

I tried to buy something today to update my wardrobe and came up empty handed because the clothes in the stores (Macy’s, JJill, Anne Taylor, Talbots, Nordstrom, etc) in my state are ridiculously ugly, cheap looking and lack tailoring. I’m well into my 40ies, the age group with the disposable income, especially in these hard times but it looks like clothing retailers don’t want my money. And what’s with all the sleeveless dresses? Most of us don’t have arms like Madonna. I don’t have time to look for a needle in a haystack which is what most of these over 40 fashion blogs suggest. If we just look hard enough we’ll find something. Sure.
If anyone can share the names of some bricks and mortar stores that have some clothes that Susan couldn’t find in the usual places – please do. My guess, and I am on the same hunt as Susan, is that we may find these clothes in the smaller independent stores scattered across the country?
Vintage is the way to go, find a vintage or consignment shop in your area with an array of style. I don’t like dept stores anyway, because 9x out of 10 someone else is wearing your exact fit. However, some of the looks never go out of style and can be mixed with different textures and colors. Your body is a canvas your clothes are the art, as long as they are classy and chic.
