Welcome back to The Fab Fall Countdown: 31 Days to a Stylish more Chic You!
Silver shoes and booties are a spinoff of a shiny new trend they’re calling Space Age Glam. On the runway, designers showed silver booties so sparkly that they would put a disco ball to shame.
Now, I know this trend has left many of you scratching your heads, wondering how you can pull it off, or why you would even want to in the first place?
While I’m the first to admit that this futuristic footwear seems pretty out there, gals who gravitate to a more creative style can really have some fun with this. As for the rest of us, once I got past the glitter of the runway versions, and saw new ways to style them, I started to see the appeal.
Ready to blast off in silver footwear this fall? Here are a couple of ways to pull this off this trend without looking like a spaceman.
1. USE SILVER SHOES TO PUNCTUATE CLASSIC LOOKS
I honestly didn’t think this trend was for me, but once I saw these sleek silver mules from Halogen, I could feel myself becoming a convert. See how beautifully these pared down silver loafer mules with the elegant architectural lines punctuate a classic white tee and windowpane cropped pants?
I love the way this dramatic orange duster brings the entire outfit together. What do you think? Futuristic? Maybe. Chic and modern?
2. FIND A TAMER SILVER BOOTIE THAT FEELS LIKE YOU
The latest trends come in many different versions. So if you think silver booties means Lady GaGa platform clunkers, you really haven’t looked around. Instead of writing off silver footwear altogether, how about trying a silver bootie that’s a little more subtle?
These soft, silver, perforated booties fit the bill perfectly. As you see, not all silver is as shiny bright as Christmas tree tinsel! The muted, dark shade of these silver perforated booties complements the gray sweater and the scarf beautifully. Add a stylish tote, and you’re ready for coffee or lunch with friends, a casual dinner, a night at the movies or any one of the dozens of places your day takes you.
What do you think? Are silver booties and shoes fun and worth trying, or are they a silly fad you shouldn’t waste your time on?
