Spring/Summer 2014 Color Trends – Flattering For Women Over 40

After a long dark winter things are cheering up as the latest styles arriving in a gorgeous array of spring hues. Here’s a look at what Pantone, the global color forecaster, says will be hot for Spring 2014.

This gorgeous array of colors is especially lovely if you are 40, 50 and beyond because we tend to need a little color as we age. It’s easy to look washed out because of fading skin and hair, but these pretty hues are bright enough to perk you up without looking gaudy.

It’s all in the way you wear them too, and I’ll be diving deeper into that in posts to follow, but for now let’s take a closer look at how these fab colors translate on key spring pieces.

1. Radiant Orchid

It’s the color of the year. Radiant Orchid is a warm, mysterious purple. I love its fabulous energy.

2. Dazzling Blue

You probably already have this color somewhere in your wardrobe already. Not too far off from navy, but more vibrant you are sure to get noticed in this striking hue.

3. Celosia Orange

This friendly shade of orange is bright and bold, perfect for the hot sunny weather ahead.

4. Violet Tulip

A romantic, elegant color that will be popping up all over as the temperature gets warmer.

5. Cayenne

A nice contrast to the pastel colors this season. Spice it up with a cayenne number for date night.

6. Freesia

This color is sure to brighten anyone’s day. Nothing screams spring like a pretty freesia dress.

7. Placid Blue

A cool, calming color resembling the sky is a perfect reminder of why we love spring.

8. Paloma Grey

With the bright pops of color in this season’s palette, it’s nice to have a grounding neutral.

9. Sand

Warm beige ties in the other colors perfectly. This color is going to be a big hit!

10. Hemlock Green

Move over emerald. A lighter more pastel version of Green has arrived.

    Thanks Deborah!
These colors are simply gorgeous! I have salt ‘n pepper hair and most except for the yellow (I have sallow skin tone) they will certainly given my Spring and Summer wardrobes a light and lovely look.
