We all want to look more youthful without looking like twenty-somethings. One way to do that is to add color to your wardrobe. This week, I’m showcasing three bloggers who have successfully shaved years off of their appearances by adding color to their wardrobes. Take a look. I’ll bet you’ll never guess their ages!
Fabulous and functional are two qualities 40+ women look for in fashion. Fashion blogger Susan found it in this colorful Lime Street maxi dress.
Susan fell in love with the dress the minute she saw it and knew it would be just perfect for her southern Florida lifestyle. As a busy mom of three, Susan’s lifestyle demands clothes that are comfortable and work for her busy day to day schedule. This striped maxi from Lime Street is a perfect match for Susan’s lifestyle and fun personality.
Susan describes her personal style as classic with a bit of edge. Whether it’s a bold statement necklace, a fabulous clutch or an interesting pair of shoes…she believes fashion should inspire and never be dull. Being over 40 doesn’t change this, in fact, she loves to mix in trendy pieces and show women how wearable they can be…at any age.

You have fabulous over 40 style, Susan.
Fabulous in Florals
If you think Lands’ End is for rugged outerwear only, think again! Lands’ End makes fashionable pieces that are perfect for our 40+ lifestyles.
Patti, who loves to blog about her favorite style finds at her blog Not Dead Yet Style, found this gem of a floral dress at Lands’ End. Patti loved the feminine vibe of the dress. The original dress came with a belt, but Patti had some fun with the outfit and swapped the belt out for this fun yellow scarf. Patti told me that she would never have worn this outfit 20 years ago. But now she feels authentic and colorful in a dress such as this one.
Patti’s favorite style-words include: flowy, soft, un-fussy, organic, and “feminine with an edge”. She is inspired by Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg and Donna Karan, and of course by the hundreds of stylish bloggers she follows. Her tip: “It’s never too late to have fun with fashion!”
The color combination of eggplant and mustard yellow is perfect for you, Patti!
The color block trend continues to be popular for fall. You can find it on shoes, bags, tops, and dresses, and in a wide array of color combinations.
Self-described “blogger with style”, Sheila wears a color-blocked dress with both bold and neutral colors. She loved the dress for its diverse and opposing colors and the fact that she could wear the trend in one easy piece of clothing. Because a dress with such vivid colors should be the main attraction, Sheila accessorized with only a color-blocked bangle.
Although Sheila works full-time out of her home, she does not skimp on style. She told me recently that, “whether I am heading to my home office or not, my style of dress is extremely important to me. My day-to-day clothes are business casual, whether I am working from home or meeting clients at their office.” Sheila’s favorite designer is Tory Burch, and she generally takes her cue from her latest collection of stylish, classic, and sometimes preppy clothes.
