Nicole looking FAB after 40
What if we told you, Stop worrying about the way you look…that after 40, you should just relax and stop caring?
That’s what they’re saying at this week’s Blogging Boomers, on The Joy of Aging. We’re horrified by the tips they are giving out, especially this one, below:
1. No one cares how I look, so I don’t need to primp or go clothing shopping.
We could NOT disagree more!!! Not “caring” is not an excuse to walk out the door looking sloppy.
As many of you know, The Glam Gals’ favorite saying is, “Life is too short to be frumpy”…
To start a discussion about this, and read other posts on a variety of Boomer topics, visit the Blogging Boomers Carnival. This week’s host is The Boomer Chronicles.

- Are you ready to change?
If you are reading this blog, chances are that you are pretty open to change, but funny thing is that much of society view those of us who are over 40, as stuck in a rut.
Here to dispel that myth and to read more articles on Boomer topics, just check out this weeks Blogging Boomers Carnival # 124 !
You can find them over at The Baby Boomer Entrepreneur.
Every week we bring you the latest boomer lifestyle tips from our friends at the Blogging Boomer’s Carnival. This week we’re hosting the carnival, and we’d like to give you an up close look at everyone in our talented group!
Topics this week range from midlife dating, to menopause, to finding your life purpose. Please meet:
1. So Baby Boomer:
Actress Suzanne Somers, age 62, sympathizes with women suffering from what she calls “The Seven Dwarfs of Menopause: Itchy, Bitchy, Sleepy, Sweaty, Bloated, Forgetful and All Dried Up.” These women of a certain age have the choice of restoration versus deterioration.
2. Life Two:
Midlife dating is like shopping for a new house, so says Life Two’s Dating Goddess who dated over 91 men in a 3.5 year period as she compiled stories and tips for her new book, “Wait or Date”.
3. Hole In the Donut
Barbara at Hole In The Donut compares her experience as a freelance writer to comments made by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the best-selling “Eat, Pray, Love.” In the video of her speech, Gilbert proposes that we need to look at genius in a different way.
4.The Midlife Crisis Queen
So many people are losing their jobs lately! What to do? The Midlife Crisis Queen suggests a different way to respond to this crisis in your life.
5. Contemporary Retirement

6. I Remember JFK
The neighborhood movie theater was a welcome spot for rainy and/or hot summer afternoons in the 50’s. The drive-in theater was likewise a fond destination that many of us remember. One of the most amazing innovations that were enjoyed by the older members of the Boomer generation were 3D movies and comic books.
7. Gen Plus
Janet Wendy at Gen Plus, usually the optimist, looks at the challenging week behind us and hopes for the week ahead.
8. Menopause The Blog
Wendy Lawson at Menopause The Blog writes about a new report showing that multivitamins might be a waste of money for post-menopausal women.
9. The Boomer Chronicles
Getting older means having new and more complicated medical tests.

Interesting post at Newsweek about a new trend happening with models. It seems there’s a swing away from serious looking pencil thin young glamazons to more real looking models -everyday people of all shapes sizes, who exude their own unique kind of personal style no matter what they are wearing.

Apparently, it’s all because of bloggers like Scott Schuman, who we’ve written about before, from The Satorialist. His candid person-on-the street fashion photos have inspired the fashion industry to make the change.
First it was the Dove Pro-age ladies… now this. Looking forward to seeing many more magnificent midlife mamas and boomer babes!
(Let’s hope these real models smile and laugh a little. We’re sick of looking at photos of teenage girls with sucked in cheeks and sour faces. Life is too short to be frumpy and too short to be so serious!)
