I see that scarves are so popular these days and many of my friends wear them and always look so stylish. However, I have no idea how to tie a scarf! Help!
Thanks, Celine W.
While we all know how to tie a turkey leg together, when it comes to tying a scarf that can be a different matter!
Deborah and I were out at the malls recently and spotted this beautiful over 40 gal! This square scarf really added some style to a simple top and leather skirt.

If you have a long skinny scarf, there are lots of ways to tie it, but today we have a short video to show you one of our favorite versions! Why not try it out this week at your Thanksgiving feast?

And did we have fun!
Many of the gals were trying to learn how to overcome their love affair with black.
Everyone was excited to learn our style recipes for new outfits, especially for weekend and casual looks.
Overall, it was an exciting and inspiring day with lots of “aha” moments! Thank You Ladies. You are all beautiful and it was our pleasure to help you Tweak your Chic. ®

True or False? Women over a certain age should NOT wear long hair?
It’s a myth that many women wonder about and is the subject of today’s FAF Style Question:
Is this hair style age-appropriate? We agree with Billy Lowe...Yes, she looks FAB!
Dear Glam Gals,
I am so unsure about whether I am too old for all this hair! I am 43 years old.
Thanks,
Ivonne Schwartzman
Dear Ivonne,
We have sent your question over to our FAF celebrity hair expert Billy Lowe and here is what he said:
Hi Ivonne!
Well, if you aren’t a throwback to “That Girl” I don’t know who is. CONGRATULATIONS is all I can say for sporting a fabulous do, and looking so fun and fabulous while you wear it. As I always say, you’ve come to the right place for your questions and I’m super excited to work with Fabulousafter40.com to help provide answers to great questions such as yours.
Howdy, JoJami here and today I am in sunny Los Angeles, where the weather has been actually on the cool side around 70 ish!
Many of you have met my mother JoBee since we like to feature her as our inspirational Glam Gal, looking just Age-mazing™ ! That’s are special word for looking amazing for your age!
Anyway, she and my gorgeous sister Janeen Damian were heading off to the airport this morning on their way to New Orleans to celebrate Janeen’s birthday (the big 5-0)!
They both looked so fantastic that I snapped a few shots of them as they were dashing out the door!
Problem: What to wear on a plane that can feel like an ice locker and then arriving in really hot and humid weather?
Here is what they had on:
JoBee ready for the plane!
Janeen has layered with cream and then added a pop of color!
Lets break it down:
JoBee:
Don't forget to bring a scarf when you travel, you never know when it might come in handy!
~Simple 2 piece suit is made of a cotton/poly fabric so it does not wrinkle.
~Nice fitted smooth tank top that can be worn without a jacket if needed.
~Chunky necklace to draw attention toward the face and fill up the low-cut tank top.
~Colorful pashmina scarf to wrap up in if the plane is cold.
~Oversized handbag. Can carry all your jewelry, books, food that you will need.
Chunky necklace...great to wear so it does not take up space in your suitcase!
This oversized, leopard handbag brings some fun to this simple brown suit.
Janeen:
Layering a light weight sweater around her neck and thin cotton scarf for extra warmth
Here is what she did right:
~Pants are slim at the thigh and flair at the bottom.
~Has on a lightweight tank top and layered with a thin long sleeve t-shirt.
~Wrapped a thin long-sleeved sweater around her neck.
~Added a sheer thin cotton scarf for a pop of color!
~Carried on her lightweight trench raincoat.
~Comfortable flat tennis shoes will be easy on and off, yet are so stylish.
This bag is updated and will go with everything in her suitcase!
This Etro Bag is a gorgeous way to carry on your laptop!
These are the newest from Ugg. We are all for stylish comfort and these bronze tennis shoes are all the rage in LA!
If you don’t get our bi-weekly newsletter, you might not have heard that I (JoJami) has decided to try something challenging…my husband and I have decided to take some time and travel around the country in a motor coach!
Deborah, who is from Toronto, will be joining up with me from time to time and we will keep you posted on our next live event!
This is going to be an exciting adventure for us and the best part is working on Fabulous After 40 is not really going to change much for me, but where I am writing it from sure will!!
I will occasionally be posting about my adventures here but more often on Facebook, so if you have not joined up with us at: www.facebook/fabafter40.
If you have ever traveled like this you know packing can be a challenge. Let us know about how you survived when traveling in this way! Comment below.
My husband asked me this morning, “Are you going through a crisis?”
Why would he think that? Is it because since we left the East Coast 6 days ago and have been enjoying the sun in Los Angeles that I (JoJami) have done nothing but complain about how old, wrinkled and flabby I feel since we’ve been here?
YIKES!
Both of us Glam Gals live back East where for the last 3 months we east coasters cover up because it is just really darn cold back there! S0,when going out at night, it really is not practical to dress all that sexy. But, on the West Coast I have found it to be very different. Women really get all decked out with heels and “bling”.
Then there was the incident last night….
Our son invited us to meet him last evening at Nic’s Martini Bar in Beverly Hills to hear some live music, so I put on a form fitting red scoop necked dress, black boots and then thought I would funk it up with a black and white striped wrap.
This hipster bar and restaurant is a trendy spot to hang out in L.A.
We sat down and all around me, walking past us were these gorgeous, tall, super skinny young 20 somethings in really tight pants or super short mini dresses and all of them were in GORGEOUS HIGH, HIGH HEELS!!
This young (20 something) in the ladies' room, looking hot!
Then it hit me. I’m NOT 20 or 30 or even 40… anymore! (Bummer…)
Oh well, when I think about it, I did dress the right “sexiness” for my age and I certainly would have looked ridiculous in a micro-mini! Those days are over. However, I soon realized that the black and white striped loose sweater was too casual, so I took it off. That left me sitting in my red dress but I had not worn a necklace so my chest felt bare.
Soo…have any of you had an “ah ha” moment lately where you feel a little down that your “glory days” are over and you need to be happy just to be healthy?
Even a Glam Gal can feel low. However, it is true that if you are going out, your outfit can really make or break the way you feel.
Here is what I will do different next time:
I will do my “homework” before going out. (That means googling the place)
I will wear high heels.
I will make sure my outfit is youthful, but not like I’m trying too hard.
I will stop comparing myself to younger women! (I am going to be happy to be me!)
I will post a photo for you all to see.
When you are going somewhere new, the internet is a wonderful tool. I should have just googled Nic’s Martini Bar before I got dressed and then pushed “Images”. Usually up pops what the inside of the place looks like, and sometimes it will even show images of people there.
We Glam Gals are firm believers that what you wear will and can give you more confidence, energy and possibly even help you have more fun.
It might sound trivial but after last night, I know it is the sad truth for me anyway. I need my wardrobe to be fresh, updated and age appropriate so that I feel great when I go out.
As one of my teachers and mentors, Judith Rasband has said for years:
“The way you dress affects the way you act and feel and how others act and feel towards you.”
