Has Hillary been reading our ebook – Tweak your Chic Mother of the Bride?
Quite possibly, because she really looked fabulous at Chelsea’s wedding!
We absolutely loved her choices. The sea foam green caftan she wore to the rehearsal dinner was feminine, chic and etheral. It was such a breath of fresh air to see her out of those pants and into something pretty and stylish.
Hillary’s raspberry Mother of the Bride gown was rich, but still soft..truly magnificent on her. The color made her complexion look creamy and angelic and that soft wavy hair….well, it only added to that classical Grecian goddess look. It looked like it was gently blowing in the breeze. A lesson to remember here- don’t have stiff looking hair. It will age you.
Now back to her dress choice–It really goes to show you that if you wear your right colors of clothing (and make-up) you will shine. Hillary is a summer – ash hair and cool skin and the colors she chose were perfect for her.
A wrong choice would have been if she had worn warm shades in stead of cool. For example, it would have been a mistake to wear a grass green dress ( grass green is warm – it has yellow in it), instead of the cool sea foam green.
It would have also been a mistake to choose a mother of the bride dress in a bright clear poppy (orangy red) vs. of the muted cool raspberry red. But Hillary got it right!

How do you stay true to your own personal style but still look modern and youthful?
Just introduce a little more sportiness into your wardrobe.

What are we talking about…At this year’s AICI conference (Association of Image Consutlants International) we got the chance to hear Alyce Parson, founder of the Universal Style System speak about this.
A bit of background about her system. Alyce says you can’t know your style unless you know yourself. So she quizzes her clients on preferred colors, fabrics, fits, hairstyles as well as their goals and message they want to deliver. The answers you give determine what style is really you. You can be
- Feminine: Soft and Romantic-Jayne Seymour, Princess Diana
- Elegant: Refined and Stately-Diane Sawyer, Jacqueline Smith
- Classic: Conservative and Businesslike-Hillary Clinton, Jane Pauley
- Dramatic: Fashionable and Sophisticated- Diana Ross, Iman
- Creative: Original and Artistic-Sarah Jessic Parker, Madonna
- Sporty:Friendly and Casual -Jane Fonda, Christie Brinkley
- Alluring: Sexy and Glamorous-Sharon Stone, Demi Moore
Most people are a combo or 2 or three styles. For example with us, I (Deborah) am Elegant and Dramatic and JoJami is Alluring-Elegant.
Some styles naturally lend themselves to a more youthful look and some don’t. ie: Elegant and classic can look old sometimes as we age, so to make these styles more youthful, add a dash of sporty. Turn up that collar, push up those sleeves. Take that perfect elegant look or that serious business style and make it a tad more relaxed and friendlier.
Apparently, adding a touch of femininity is another way to keep you looking youthful. You don’t have to run out and buy a wardrobe of frills but Alyce says that femine touches like soft colors, pinks and peaches to compliment your skin can give you a lovely soft glow.
Alyce herself is a gorgeous Elegant-Alluring. We snapped a photo of her for you because at 60+ she has fabulous style and looks absolutely Age-mazing™!

Did you see Hillary Clinton on TV during the Democratic Presidential Election Debates? She looked great. Her face was firm (but not tight). Her skin was flawless, and her hair was sporty and chic.
We thought she looked very polished and softer than we’ve seen her in a while (although she looks a little ticked off in this photo!)
It crossed our minds that she may have had a little nip or tuck, but we quickly dismissed the thought because we figured she would think cosmetic surgery was too frivolous or would distract from her bid to be president.
Hmm, maybe our intial gut feeling was right. A lot of other people saw Hillary Clinton on TV that night and thought the same thing. Now the net is abuzz with bloggers pondering, Did she or didn’t she? Check out these before and after photos and judge for yourself.
