Behind every frumpy woman is a goddess

A friend just sent this and we had to pass it along. The photo below was taken at a competition in June 2008.  The competition was between 9 women for best makeover.
They had every possible beauty treatment available to them over a period of 12 hours before the contest.

Look at the before and after photos.. Conclusion  …Behind every frumpy woman is a goddess.

Want to see Age-mazing makeovers?

I (JoJami) in conjunction with my favorite local charity, Fund for Women, held a membership, Make-Over Madness, party!

To keep things interesting, we invited 4 women to dare to try a new look!

The hair was done by Cristy, who is Co-owner of the  Robert Cris Salon, in Wilmington, Delaware andiod make up was by Nicole, from Mix the Studio in Hockessin, De.

If you are ready to make a change, check out our online consults!

Here are the results:

First off all  the gals met with me  had me do a color analysis on them, so that they had outfits to be shot in that were

Make over #1,  was letting her hair grow out, but it was too long and had lots of split ends. We trimmed it up, and gave her some soft layers and long bangs. She did not like to wear makeup, so we did a light makeup to even out her skin tone! Simply gorgeous!

Makeover #2: This gal (art teacher) had let her roots go too long. Also she confessed to never wearing make up and wanted to learn how. Her hair was in desperate need of a trim. After styling her curly hair to make it more updated and straight, she looks certainly looks more  polished and professional.

Makeover #3 Had just had her color done, but we felt it was washing her out. We went with a richer color and her eyes just popped! She has called and reported that she LOVES her new cut and color and has gotten rave reviews.

Tweak Your Chic, Part II

In a previous newsletter, we talked about how a simple thing like updating your accessories can take you from Frumpy to Fabulous in 10 minutes. This week we have another great example of that for you. Take a look at the subtle changes we’ve made to this all black outfit and how they make a world of difference to the overall look.

BEFORE THE TWEAK
before-the-tweak-sm
Conservative, safe. She looks very average and out of date.

AFTER TWEAK YOUR CHIC
after-the-tweak-sm
Much more fashionable, hip and up to date. She radiates confidence! Let’s take a closer look at what we’ve done, below…

before-necklace-sm Before Necklace:

This wooden chunky necklace is lovely on its own, but paired with this outfit, it’s not the best choice. Notice how the gold on the necklace fights with the pewter on the belt…not a harmonious look. Also the jacket has such a beautiful neckline that this necklace detracts from that. It’s a little too short.

after-necklace-sm After Necklace:

Much better now. We’ve switched the gold necklace for the pewter necklace to work with the pewter belt. We’ve also gone with a different style of necklace. It’s longer and has multiple strands- which is very in vogue right now. Notice how the multiple strands mirror the draping of the fabric at her neckline. Also the combo of cool brown and pewter is a very modern combination.

before-belt-sm Before Belt:

This first belt is a little too thin and the rhinestones make it look dated.

after-belt-sm After Belt:

We replaced the thinner belt for this wide pewter belt. Wide belts are a hot item this year. It makes the outfit look much more modern, and really shows off her shape.

before-handbag-sm Before Handbag:

This Chanel style handbag is very ordinary and on the small side. The gold hardware is too shiny to go with the pewter belt and necklace.

after-handbag-sm After Handbag:

This large, textured purse totally changes the feel of this outfit from conservative to fashion forward. Now this outfit has personality! Pewter hardware synchronizes the look.

after-boots-sm Before Boots:

We see many woman trying to wear 3/4 high boots with skirts and dresses. These boots hit the leg at a funny place and are not very flattering. Better to wear them under pants or a long skirt.

before-boots-sm After Boots:

These stretch boots come fit like a glove, up to the knee are both flattering and comfortable. We suggest you invest in a pair of tall boots that fit the calf nicely. Choose a refined heel like this if your outfit is dressy.

Now, let’s look at that Before and After Again…

A whole new you! See 4 fabulous makeovers!

Recently JoJami and Deborah were asked to take on a challenge for the Delaware Today Magazine, to make over 4 real women (not models) and to see what would happen!

It was so much fun, seeing these women transform before our eyes. With just a new updated hair do, and a new outfit, these ladies were just glowing afterwords!

Here are the results:

joellenorwwod-before

Joelle Norwood, TV producer: Joelle said she has been growing her hair, but found that she just ended up putting it up all the time. “I’m ready to have some style, back into my life!” she said. Norwood confessed that all she had was black and white in her wardrobe.

We fixed that and found her a color that let her confidence shine!

Laura Day, Financial Professional (owner of Laura Day and Associates)

Before we made over Laura, she really did wear her hair in a clip like this every day to work. She agreed that she had been wearing it this way since high school and that it really didn’t look that professional. As far as her wardrobe, she wanted to break out of her comfort zone of solid suits and try something fun! Here was her comment, ” I felt like a princess today, its been just the best day ever!”

jackieivybefore

Jackie Ivy is an architect and also  has been working on a project for work, where she is finding herself being interviewed by the press all the time! She has 2 small children and with her busy schedule, just never took the time to shop or take care of her self. She has always wanted to see what she looked like with long hair, so we gave her her wish and added some extensions. Her wardrobe was baby proof, which ment all grey and black, and she had not put a dress on in years. Jackie was so pleased with her outfit, and she said, “I used to buy clothes like this, but I just have not done so in so long, I forgot what it felt like to look feminine and pretty!”
