Dr. Jaliman’s Lowdown on Anti-aging Creams

Are you as confused as we are about the thousands of anti-aging beauty creams out there and their endless lists of scientific age-defying ingredients? It’s enough to make a gal throw her hands up in the air and say, “Forget it all.. just pass me a little vaseline please.”

We all want to keep our skin looking dewy and fresh, but what how do you know what you really need in a cream, and what you don’t?

We finally go that answer at the MORE magazine Re-invention convention where we heard dermatologist to the stars, and very pretty lady, Dr. Debra Jaliman M.D. spill the beans.  She gave us the simple, uncomplicated list of ingredients to make us look Fabulous after 40.

To Stimulate the production of collagen-( collagen is what creates structure for skin to hang on- more collagen, the more firm your skin )  buy creams with peptides

For dry skin use creams with with Hylaronic Acid

To even out skin tone- use creams with Niacin( vitamin b)

To make skin feel smoother try microdermobrasion and use jojo beads and gylcolic acid.

Dr. Jalimin also said that if you are using face cream under your eyes ( like we often do) , you really do need special eye creams instead.

Night creams may have perfumes or other chemicals that irritate the eyes and make them red or puff them up. Eye creams are specially formulated so they won’t do that. Dr. Jaliman said to get an eye cream with ingredients like caffeine, antioxidants and peptides. They encourage collagen production and reduce the production of harmful enzymes that speed up the aging process.

Her recommendations…

Cleanser- Cerave Hydrating cleanser

Moisturizer -Stila Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30, or Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily MoisturizerSPF 30

Suncreen- La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF60 Ultralight Sunscreen Fluid -  (We use this and love it!) or Colorscience Sunforgettable SPF50.

All over anti-aging treatment – In addition to Retin A, she likes StriVectin-SD Intensive Concentrate for Stretch Marks and Wrinkles.

Eye Cream – to lighten dark circles and help with wrinkles -StriVectin-SD Eye Concentrate

Real Women Wear Cheap and Expensive Lip Gloss…

Well, since I (JoJami) travel a lot I’m always looking for ways to strike up a conversation with other Fashionistas, to share with you as inspiration.

So, while sitting in Memphis last week, I had the delightful opportunity to meet the lovely, dynamic, and proud to be called a fashionista,  C. Lauren Jones!

While waiting to board, it was hard for me to miss C. Lauren, in her bright pink shirt, dramatically waiving around 2 lip glosses, while enthusiastically explaining to her travel partner  why the $8.00 Neutrogena version was actually better than the $25.50  Christian Dior one, although it did have gorgeous packaging, that she just had to splurge on!

She certainly had my attention with all this lip smacking talk of gloss…so I caught her eye and she waived me into the conversation… “Do you ever find this is true?” she asked, her lips all a shimmer in the Neutrogena brand.

I certainly was ready to hear more, so ran right over and started interviewing her!

JJ: You look great in your bright pink top…where is it from?

C.L.J : Can you believe it is from Kohls? It is so comfortable!

JJ: Your shoes look super comfy and stylish too…

C.J.L: These are Donald Pliner!

JJ: Oh I have a similar pair for travel too… LOVE  his shoes… pricey but worth every penny!
