When you want to carry a bag that is a great value and be the first one on the block with one, check this out!
Wow, what a great look for Spring!
When handbag designer, Ellen Allen talks about her navy striped Murray Hill bag, she can hardly contain herself. “It’s big, organized, and sleek. It’s a sexy way to schlep.” Ellen’s enthusiasm for this tote is warranted, considering her name is on the silver logo plate that has women all over Annapolis talking. As an interior designer and a parent of two young boys, Ellen found herself constantly looking for a multifunctional bag to suit her on-the-go lifestyle. But she wasn’t willing to sacrifice style. “It was most important for me to have a bag that was chic yet practical,” she said. “Women have been choosing between fashion and practicality for years. Why can’t we have both?”
You can’t go wrong with this festive roomy bag, that has a couture look at a fraction of the cost.
Best of all, you won’t be seeing yourself coming and going.. this exclusive bag is new to the market! Either color just $180.00

This product gets the Glam Gals seal of apporoval!
Here is a great fashion question from one of our readers: Dear Glam Gals, Wondering what handbags you would consider “old lady” and which would be considered more youthful…..thanks!L. C. Vandercook Hi L.C. We had fun looking for some good examples to share with you. Here are our Do’s and Don’ts
Example
Don’t
Do
This bag on the left is too stiff and old lady like, plus it’s boring beige.
See how the bag on the right is more relaxed and soft. That’s what you want. Soft is youthful and the color adds life! (Nordstroms)
You see these bags like this one the left all the time on older women. These bags look heavy and tired. Do you want to look heavy and tired too?
Try shiny black patent leather with white piping instead for a fresher, up to date look. (Black House White Market)
Patchwork may be in, but over 40, sorry, it looks like you’ve taken up quilting.
Try a single bright pop of color with a classy touch of hardware for a more powerful chic look. (Saks)
Red is always cheery and can be sporty mixed with tan or brown, but this bag on the left has a boring shape making it look ho-hum.
Instead, try this cute one on the right. It’s got a less uptight shape, is also more matte, so more sporty and the tassels are a great stylish. Tally ho! (Nordstroms)

Out at a restaurant the other day I saw this lovley women sitting by herself enjoying a cup of soup reading her Kindle. What is a Kindle? It is the new way to store books and have them ready to read via a small little screen you can take with you!
Nothing like a well dressed women who is up to date with her electronics!

It’s no secret that the Glam Gals adore and are inspired by anything French. We have both traveled the country extensively and find the allure of the French woman so fascinating with the way they always seem to to be sexy, sophisticated and effortlessly put together.
What I enjoyed so much about this book was how the author, who happens to be English, delves deep into the mysterious realm of the day to day habits of the French woman and discovers some interesting wisdom and practical advice on how to achieve that ooh la la style with maximum effect with minimum effort.
Funny, honest and some shocking facts makes this book a good read.
We were sure you would LOVE Susan’s sweater set because it fits so nicely, and it made up of the 2 ” must have” classic pieces every woman needs to have in her wardrobe. Not to mention, we have found Susan’s sweaters to be the best fitting and best looking ones on the market!
Looks like we were right. Since then some of you received your sweaters and have been sending us letters with rave reviews!
Hi Susan and Glam Gals-
I wanted you to know I got my order and I love my twin sets!! In fact, I love the shell so much (I wore it today) I ordered two more of the shells in black, this way I can actually “wear them to pieces” and not worry!!
Thanks again!! Rhonda
One more note, we want to encourage you not to play it safe…we think the cream and blue and red ones are FAB, to add some much needed color to your wardrobe! Susan spent hundreds of hours choosing just the right shade of blue and coral that is universally flattering to all women.
If you’re over 40, chances are you’ve bought at least one item of clothing from designer Sigrid Olsen.
Last night, I (JoJami) had a chance to met up with Sigrid, who was one of the speakers at the Smart Talk Series in Wilmington, DE.
Olsen (age 55) said she started out in her career as an artist and morphed onto the fashion scene 25 years ago, heading up her name brand clothing empire. She designed for “real” women, using bright colors and simple classic designs that became her trademark.
However, a few years ago that all changed. With the economy sinking, Sigrid left her business to start fresh. “My company had become so large that I did not get to do what I loved to do, which is creative based.
“I ended up just being the head of my company and doing meetings all day. I had lost touch with my roots and doing my passion which is art…. I am much happier now.”
ISLA beach house
So what does that “now” look like?
Olsen, who lives in Gloucester, MA, now runs a retail boutique, called ISLA Beach house, just a few steps down the road from her home, where she sells her sunny, beach-inspired art, pottery and other unique finds.
“I like to find new artists and help promote them”, she said with a twinkle in her eye. She is obviously passionate about her new venture!
Not to be one to sit still, Sigrid, found Yoga soon after her “retirement” and now runs her Yoga/Art fusion retreats all over the world.
A self professed “doer” Sigrid Olsen is living her passion and thanks to her creativity we can now bring a piece of her colorful world into ours!
Deborah (circa 2004) in her favorite Sigrid Olsen outfit
A cute story… Deborah tells me that back in around 2003 after having two babies two years apart, she was feeling rather frumpy. She went to Florida and discovered Sigrid Olsen in Burdines and bought a ton of her bright fun clothes.
Deb was so thrilled she even emailed Sigrid to tell her how happy her clothes made her feel, and what a perfect fit they were. Here’s Deb a couple of years later in those same Sigrid Olsen clothes that she wore and wore.
Doesn’t the robin’s egg blue and peach go beautifully with her Spring complexion?
She had read our post about age appropriate shoes with cutouts wanted to share with us shoe trends on display in Venice. Nicki said the Italian women looked fabulous! “Some of the Venetian women and an older blond gal in Lake Como looked beyond wonderful. You would have loved them and their outfits.”
Thanks for thinking of us Nicki and sending the photo! Looks like patent leather is going to be big this Spring!
Love the patent green half bootie heels, behind the green pumps on the bottom shelf…how stylish!
(JoJami) Wrinkles… If there is one area that I really had not been too worried about wrinkles, it has been my chest or the formal word for it is “décolleté.”
That is, until, a friend of mine who is 30 something, mentioned to me that she had seen this cool product, called Decollete Pads, that basically erases chest lines by wearing this giant band-aid for as little as an hour, or overnight. Then you just peel it off (I tried it, its totally painless) with a chest that looks like someone let you borrow and iron!
OOH NO… Do I need help in that area too?
(I am now running to look in a mirror and check out my plunging neckline…) Click here for more info.and to see some amazing before and after photos.
You know when you hear about a new product and you think, “Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before?”…
Well, onGossamer (a luxurious, hip lingerie brand) has just introduced to us a brand new product! and we are loving it!
Luxury Liner, the very first stain-free panty! How can that be? Well someone, finally realized that it would be alot easier for us ladies, if panties would have a nice black liner in them so that they don’t stain! What a great idea!!!
Not only that, but they are made with a fabulously soft Wick-Stop fabric, so it wicks moisture and stops stains from coming through to your favorite pants.
They come in lots of styles too! (bikini, thong, and even high rise!)
We were thinking that these would be great when your out at a big event or working out, and especially traveling!
Here is there logo, “No Leaks No Stains No Problem!” This is great news, finally a pretty panty to solve an icky problem!
Women with a fuller bust line can now breathe easy, literally, thanks to new, California-based sleep & loungewear label Buxom Inc.
Tired of squeezing her fuller bust line into the industry B-cup standard sleep & loungewear labels currently on the market, attorney-turned-entrepreneur Christine Kurek took matters into her own hands and founded Buxom Inc. The products are cut specifically to fit cup sizes C-DD, the collection consists of chemises, nightshirts and camisoles with more forgiving cuts around the bust line than industry standards, as well as built-in bras in some pieces for added support.
Have you noticed how the fashion and makeup industry has jumped on the “Going Green” bandwagon?
One of my (JoJami) all time favorite products is Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint soap. Here’s how they describe it….”Our most popular fragrance. The peppermint essential oil tingles the body and clears the mind. Because therapeutically peppermint oil is a mild stimulant it increases vitality and clarity. All oils and essential oils are certified organic .”
Yes, I can attest, this is a truly yummy product!!!
When I had little ones, and was constantly cleaning their highchair, I wanted to make sure that the tray was clean but not full of detergent, so I used Dr. Bronners, which is all natural. Moreover, this soap is like 10 soaps in one! You can use it as a hand wash, bodywash and shampoo!
Also, if you are going to support an organic company like Dr Bronners, it’s great to see that the people over there have a wonderful sense of humor.
Here’s fun video that everyone should watch, to see if the soap you are using is “real soap” or “fake soap”, which means soap full of petroleum products and not organic at all.
We’re always on the lookout for ways to make shopping on the net faster and easier and we’ve just come across two great sites to help you do just that.

If you have a gorgeous knit suit or cashmere sweater, after one or two wears, you’re tempted to take it to the dry cleaners. Well, we found a great new item to save your clothes and keep you feeling fresh! It’s called a Cami Crop. Its like a little thin, mini- t-shirt you can wear under your sweater to keep it cleaner longer!
If you really have a problem gunking up your clothes with with deodorant or perspiration, you can take it one step further. These tops come with a little pocket that holds a washable sweat shield that will wick away moisture, if a hot flash comes on!
Advantagewear has a full line of undergarments that can be worn with or without washable or disposable dress shield that you can wear under all your blouses, shirts, and suits.
These might not be one of the most glamorous items, but we think these are one of the best kept secret out there!
JoJami-Was in the drug store the other day and saw a big display of a new “dry” nail polish, that you just peel and stick on. I thought, now that sounds too good to be true, but thought what the heck and grabbed a package.
I took it home and it sat on my counter for a few weeks, since I was hesitate to have to figure it out how to put the darn things on. However, last night I had a dinner to go to and didn’t want to fight the crowds to get a manicure, so I sat down with the package and dove in.
To me, it was like coloring your hair for the first time, with one of those home coloring kits. You read all the directions 10 times and then just do it. To make it easier, you can view the virtual demonstration here, but I didn’t bother.
I used the color “French Manicure” which, isn’t really a french manicure at all since the white part is not there, but just a very light pink color that goes on solid.
I found them relatively easy to apply (you literally just peel and stick the color on) and the result was really fantastic! It really does go on dry and so you can’t mess them up afterward.
They claim that they last up to 2 weeks, so I have a another 12 days to go for the final results. But I’m definitely impressed so far!
Its about time, somebody came up with a better way to paint your nails!
While at Saks, in the makeup department, could not help but stop and take a look at a new eye cream called, Freeze 24/7.
(didn’t hurt, the rep was a cute guy, waving us down!)
Anyway…I digress…
So what is this, new cream??? He said, give me your hand. He turned it over to reveal my line strewn palm. He slathered some cream on, and Wow! the lines plumped up and disappeared.
Then he grabbed my girlfriend, and put some on her eyes,(you know, where the crows feet are).
I snapped this before and after. (yes, this is just my little camera snapping a photo!)
Before
After - with a visible difference!
The difference was visible. (Click to enlarge the pictures so you can see!)
So, I don’t know anything about how long it lasts..probably for a day, like the name says.
Personally, did not buy any, but just thought it was very cool and thought I pass it along to all of you!
If anyone has tried it, write us a note under comments! Thanks~
Do you have a nightly ritual, when going to bed at night?
One of mine (JoJami) is slathering yummy rich creams on my face, hands and feet before jumping into the covers!
With the dry winter air you can quickly start feeling like a dried up prune, so here are our favorites to keep your skin plump and youthful!
Shea butter is known for its moisturizing effects, but can get a bit greasy. This version is very smooth with out the oil slick. It’s not heavily scented which makes it perfect to use anytime.
If you’re not using a night cream on your eyes, your skin is missing out! This one is a good one. It really will does help with fine lines and puffiness.
The older I get the dryer my feet get. That’s why I love this lavender foot cream that whisks you off in your dreams to Provence! I pile it on just before bed, then throw on a pair of workout socks (to heat up my feet and infuse the cream into my rough skin) and awake in the morning with smooth soft tootsies. Sweet Dreams!
