Hi Glam Gals!
My husband, a college professor, was just offered a summer teaching opportunity in Nanjing, China! We will be there for 6 weeks and I understand the weather will be very hot! This will be an adventure! I will definitely be packing my workout clothes – but beyond that I’ve got to start working on a plan! I’ll turn 59 while on this trip (July/August) – so maybe this birthday won’t count? Here is a picture of me at my recent 40th high school reunion (on the right). My friend with me is Robin – we’ve been best friends since we were 13!!
My thoughts are lightweight summer, easy care dresses, skirts and tops. We will probably have several functions as well as trying to sightsee and tour.

I know why for years I (JoJami) never felt satisfied with my wardrobe. When I stopped to think about how I went about shopping here’s what I found. I had the consistently self-sabotaging habit of:
- buying too many blah items (on Sale, of course!)
- just going out shopping for fun (no plan or forethought)
- often coming home with things that were black, grey or a combination of both
- was not confident on what colors looked good on me
So how do you change this pattern? What can you do to start upping your style, especially now that you are 40 or older?
Here are a few fashion tips on what super stylish women do to always dress chic!
- Have a style role model. This can be tough when you are over 40 because there are not that many out there. If you can find someone that has a similar body type, great!
- Keep a Style notebook in your purse. This is the fastest way to get inspired. Start noticing women on the street that catch your eye. What is it about an outfit that makes this woman stand out? Is it the style or color of her coat? Is her hairstyle one that would look good on you? Jot down any and all things that get your heart beating! I realize the season has passed for these but am wondering if I “can or should” be wearing Capris.
Yes. Cathy Capris are still in style and you look FAB! (pants from K Mart)
They are made of a stretchy material and about the only thing that fits me because of my super skinny legs. Is this appropriate for my age. (59) And as long as I look like this, is it ok to still wear them or should I forget the Capris and start wearing pants. (shorts do NOT look good on me because of my skinny legs)

Yes, Capris are very much still in style and absolutely age-appropriate. You are so youthful looking and in great shape! (Just look at those lovely arms!!!!)
And your legs are gorgeous!! Please let us know the brand of your pants, they certainly are flattering on your type of body!
- The top you have chosen is nice too because it is long enough and hits you at a good spot.
- Your necklace is perfect to fill in the scoop neck
- Your sandals are updated and the thickness of the straps balance out the print in the top.

These tall suede black boots were one of my favorite things this year~JoJami
At the end of every year, I enjoy looking back and taking note of which purchases were my favorites and which ones I got the most enjoyment out of.
Here are a few things that made the top of my list in 2011:
- Tall black suede boots made my dresses go from fall to winter!
- Needed to update my sunglasses this year, so got these Ray Bans
- Leopard pumps I wore with both my jeans, dresses and skirts
- This bold necklace can dress up a t-shirt and made it “glam”
- Textured stockings we’re a hot trend this season and inexpensive to try
- Tested this Dior mascara and loved it, was certainly worth the splurge!
- This faux fur scarf has been my new go-to piece when I run out the door
- My scent of choice, Dolce and Gabbana, The One.
