Glasses with evening wear is not easy to pull off!
We recently posted some amazing before and after photos of several “average” looking women who in 12 short hours turned into eye popping goddesses!
With that, several of you commented that some of the women wore glasses in their “before” photos and then had them off in the after!
Well, one of the reasons that none of the women were wearing eyeglasses in the “after” is that they all had on evening gowns.
Let’s face it, wearing your everyday glasses with a formal gown in not an easy look to pull off, unless you’re Sophia Lauren!
However, you can still be fabulous with glasses on a daily basis.
Here are our tips on this eye popping subject!
1) If you wear glasses on a daily basis, make sure you have a pair that is updated and looks good with your style of dressing.
2) Decide if you want your glasses to be a fashion statement or not.

You hardly notice that Sarah Palin is wearing rimless glasses!
Rimless glasses are a conservative choice and literally “disappear”. Sarah Palin is a good example of how to wear this style of eyeglasses.
3) If you are going to a formal event and have to wear your glasses, make sure to pick a dress that will be simple and not compete with your glasses.
4) If you have had your glasses for over 2 to 3 years, you should think about updating them.

Tina Fey looks chic and smart in these updated frames.
5) Glasses can be a way to express your creativity. If you are ready for a new pair, why not go out on a limb and try something that is colorful or a new style.
6) Know your face shape. Try on frames that will contrast with your face shape to balance you out. (e.g. If you have a long face, a more rounded frame will be best for you)
Just because you wear glasses does not mean that you can’t look chic or stylish. Just make sure that you have an entire look that is harmonious and that fits your lifestyle!
With updated hair, makeup and clothes, wearing glasses can be festive and fabulous!

Blogs are abuzz about Sophia Loren.
The 75 year old star looked beautiful as ever a the 2010 Golden Globe awards. Many are wondering, just how does Sophia Loren manage to look so fab?
Whatever she does, it is working – minus the rainbow glasses which she should lose!
One thing we’ve noticed in the last couple of decades is that Sophia has a little trick of lightly covering her shoulders, arms and sometimes decolletage with sheer fabric.
This gives the illusion of bareness, which is sexy, but in reality you are covered up and not exposing crepy skin or aging arms.
Smart!
What else looked great? Check it out below…
| Sandra Bullock looked vibrant in this gorgeous shade of purple. |
 |
| Helen Mirren- elegant style, fabulous fit, but she is fair and this black washes her out. |
 |
| Julianna Moore- interesting choice, but looks like a a shower curtain sewn up the middle. We like the shoes but they look too heavy with this dress and drag it down. |
 |
| Loved the color of the dress with her auburn hair, but the one shoulder style makes her look like a wrestler. For more great photos of Fab women over 40 check out popsugar. |

They were Fabulous after 40 on the red carpet last night at the 2009 Academy Awards Show!
We saw plenty of unattractive, trendy, mermaid style strapless dresses on the younger gals, but it was the classic and elegant gowns that Hollywood’s “seasoned” stars wore that made us want to stand up and cheer!
For example:
Meryl Streep ~ Meryl really nailed it! What a flattering dress on her, and she finally found someone to get her hair looking good! This is a great example of how to look sexy, but age appropriate.
Her neckline is low, but not cleavage popping. The fabric drapes nicely, but not too much. Simple, sleek, and not over-done (notice the soft make up that is in harmony with her dress!). We love this custom Alberta Ferretti gown on her.
Meryl likes to be comfortable and she looks it, but she also looks glamorous too!
Sarah Jessica Parker ~ Just clocking in at 40, she is one of the new gals on the block. Young and thin enough to still pull off the strapless Dior gown, she darkened her hair so she would not look so washed out in her gorgeous very light mint green gown (that looked white to most). However, I ( JoJami) loved the look!
The word on the street is that white is the hot “color”. White used to be a no-no because it made you look washed out on TV, but with the arrival of High Definition TV, that’s all changed, and it’s now being touted as the most popular color for celebrities.
The biggest challenge with wearing white is not looking like you are wearing a wedding gown. Sarah’s belt helped tone down this pretty frock and kept it looking red carpet worthy.
Marissa Tomei ~ Here we go again…another white dress.
Marissa, as you can see, has a drop dead gorgeous figure and this dress nicely shows it off. She is certainly on the right style track with her one-shoulder look and loose pretty hair. Take note of the simple cuff on her wrist, the perfect touch, since the dress has a lot going on.
Sophia Loren ~ usually one of our favorite style icons was huge disappointment. Did she pull this out of the back of her closet from 20 years ago?
It looked very dated with the pleated ruffles, Lady Di choker and had way too much “froo froo” going on. When you have a body and face of a star, there’s no need to overdo the glitz.
She needed to just let herself shine by keeping it simple and toning it down in the dress and make-up department. Sadly, Sophia managed to get herself lots of free press by landing on the front page of Billy Norwich’s Worst Dress List and many others!
Goldie Hawn ~ As a presenter this year, she did not walk the red carpet, however she shined on stage in her taupe gown.
Goldie sure knows what looks good on her and always pulls it off! At 64, looking fit and bubbly as ever, she wore a neck baring, flowing gown. She might not have been best dressed, but she certainly looked very pretty.
(Side note: Ms. Hawn seems to like wear tight dresses that tend to squash her “girls.” Maybe she needs to try a size bigger next time! And is it just me, or has she had the same hair style since 1977?)
They’re one of the first things to go once you hit midlife. You wake up one day, look in the mirror and are stunned to see that your once shapely upper arms have suddenly turned to flab and are hanging down like big hunks of jello. How did this happen and what the heck can you do about it?
If you’re smart, you’ll do what Sophia Loren does. We remember reading a long time ago that once Sophia started aging she made a point of cleverly covering up her arms.
At 72 she still looks fab because she knows how to shine the spotlight on what she’s still got. She uses clothes to accentuate her best features (her still wonderful bustline and waist), and play down other parts of her body that aren’t quite what they used to be, such as her aging arms. It’s a simple hollywood trick and it works beautifully.
The other thing you can do of course for “old lady arms” is to exercise. You’d be surprised how how much you can tone up your bicieps and triceps if you are loyal to a simple fitness plan.
We found some great arm exercises at the Blogging Boomer’s carnival #16 which is being hosted this week by Your Drum. Check them out!
