Valerie Bertinelli looking Fabulous after 40 in a Bikini
Valerie Bertinelli, 48, is on the cover of People Magazine and looking Age-MAZING!
It’s exciting to see that with some willpower, a good diet and lots of exercise, you can get your bod back even after 40! Of course, she’s been paid to do this, but still, it is inspiring!
On her blog at Jenny Craig, Valerie attests to feeling better than ever about herself, and obviously looks very healthy.
Have any of you had this type of success?
We want to hear your story! What diet and fitness tips can you pass on that can help us all look fabulous after 40?

I’m over 50. I’m 5’5″ and some, and I weigh about 125lbs. I could be fitter, but cosmetically I’m in good shape. My tip for everyone is to be very aware that as you age your metabolism slows down and you simply cannot just eat what you have always eaten. You gotta eat less. And if you are going to eat less without feeling hungry, than you are going to have to eat more lean protein than you used to. Say hello to yogurt, chicken breasts, eggs, and say, I love you but we can’t keep seeing eachother like this to carnitas, pizza, pasta-based lifestyles….
I’m sure she has done a great job, but I’m equally sure there’s a lot of photoshop going on there. I just don’t quite buy it.
Hi Shari,
As far as the photo shopping goes, we are pretty sure you are right about that!!
Thanks for your comment!
Thanks for your comment on eating less. I think as we age and our activities slow down for many of us, we forget that we will also have to cut down the amount we eat! So your point is well taken!
Thanks!

I am 55 and my husband is 57. Last year, (reached goal May 08) I lost 80 and my husband lost 90 lbs. We both found success at Weight Watchers 10 years earlier, but then things happen. (We all know the story…. kids, stress, who got sick, parent illness etc.) After my husband’s weight ballooned, he had one medical problem after another. We went on this very strict diet suggested by my husband’s neurologist.
It was a long journey and we made the commitment not to be in situations which would lead us to failing. Our children were away at college so I wasn’t tempted cooking dinner. Those weekly dinners with friends were out. We declined many social situations. This was not a popular decision and we received flack from friends and family. People are supportive, but only to a point, but this was the right decision for us and only we can make this decision. The less we deviated from dieting, the stronger we became. This is probably the best advice I can give anyone. Stay the course!
So here we are happy, healthy and trim. At 5’8” I’m 145. My husband is 180. We’re like kids again. My oldest tells people it’s like his parents are dating. Lol
The best part…..I love shopping, buying and wearing clothing! And when you’re slim, you can buy off the sale rack. The sale rack has nothing in a size 20-22.
Finally! It’s about time for a “real woman” to get promoted. She’s average height, average weight, and she looks incredible!!!!!!
Well let me start by stating up front that I am no Valerie Bertenelli but I am proud to say that I feel better at 48 than I have since my early 20s whem my son was little, and I think I look just as good if not better! After raising my son alone (with the help of my mom) for 20 years and getting him off to a top college, I was a worn out, some what grumpy, frumpy whopping 225 lbs. I could hardly make it through the day at work and could not make it up one flight of stairs without taking a break. I started the Nurtisystem program last Feb and to date have come down to 168 lbs and went from size 22-24 to a 12-14. Now that may still be alot but I am finally comfortable in my own skin and think I look pretty darn good. I have started an exercise dance class that I love and can easily make it through a day at work and take the stairs regularly. Nutrisystem really worked for me I couldn’t believe how easy the weight came off. I am now going to try to maintain for a while before I try to loose those last ten pounds. I feel so good, I’m more active, participating in more things and taking care of my self better. I feel like I have rejoined the world as myself. I only wish that I would have done it sooner!
A little photoshopping for sure, but she looks great. She lost an extra 10 pounds! 50 total. She did better with keeping the weight off then Christie Alley. She has a lot to celebrate! I’m working on my 9 pounds and I hope I get there by July!
She really does look good. Keeping ift off is the hardest part. Hopefully she will. So many of us don’t.
