I live in the southwest and "tan" is impossible for me to avoid unless I want to live like a mole. And I love the outdoors way too much for that! We have year round sun and mostly warm (short sleeve) weather even in winter. I don't use most chemical sunscreens because of their danger to the body so I have to rely on natural ones that are not necessarily the strongest at keeping you from tanning.

In any event...I think Mother Nature definitely is intending on me to get some sun or she wouldn't have put that darn golden globe up there in the first place!

Hi Michele,
On the fake tan issue, we think this is about personal taste. If someone want to color their hair or skin, that is up to them. Deborah is very fair skinned, but likes to wear dresses with no hose in the summer, so feel like a little spray tan can allow her to feel comfortable doing that. Moderation is the key here. If she tried to over do the tan, we agree she would probably look silly.
Even if you try to color your hair too dark or too light, you can start looking harsh, especially as we age.
We respect the idea of trying to look your best, and sometimes we can use a "little glow" to feel better. However, we like to stress that less can be more, especially when it comes to tanning.

I do agree that fake tans are less unhealthy than real tans. But, I'm still trying to figure out why women want to change the color of their skin. If you're really pale, you probably look good that way. If you're not, then whatever you have is best for you. Mother Nature doesn't make mistakes.

Just don't forget to exfoliate first. If you don't you will be really blotchy.
Self tanner is so much better then tanning beds and the sun if you are over 40. Love your skin and take care of it!
