Just wanted to share a few photos and style tips from the fabulous @lovechicos #howboldareyou event I hosted the other day here in Burlington. As you probably know from earlier posts the age-defying campaign is all about owning your age, wearing what you want, expressing all that you are, and living your life with joy!
We had a fabulous bunch of women come out for this great night that included sips and tips about Fashion. I’ve included a few Style pointers below that the ladies loved.
Don’t Grow Old, Be Bold. Here’s How…
COLOR TIP – Dump the Black
If you’ve fallen into a black rut, and your closet is full of too much black, ask yourself, What am I hiding from? Too much black at midlife and beyond especially near the face is harsh and draining.
Dare to slowly add more colorful pieces to your wardrobe, if you don’t want to totally give up black, add sparkly jewelry or a colorful jacket to an all-black dress or black top and pants. Color adds Energy and Energy is life. You don’t want to look like you have one foot in the grave so cool the black.
PRINTS TIP – Show your Personality with Prints & Patterns
Another rut that is easy to fall into is the Seriously solids trap. It’s good to throw in a print to tie two colors together or make things more interesting. Prints like the ones Karen, Diana from @dianashealthyliving and I are wearing give your outfit a modern touch.
Add prints in the way of scarves, jewelry, a cute jacket and even print shoes. Want to mix two prints? Just make sure they are in the same color family, and that one print is more predominant than the other.
ACCESSORIES TIP – Find Your Magic Metal
Do you know your wow colors? How about your magic metals? If you are a warm Spring or Autumn and have peachy/tawny skin and golden highlights in your hair, your best jewelry color is gold. Just take a look at me and Lynda from @fashionbylynda_
If you have pink undertones in your skin and cool, ashy hair ( like Vivian below) your magic jewelry metal is silver. It’s the little details like this -wearing cool or warm jewelry depending on your coloring that is really going to pull an outfit together and make it look wow!
