The Fourth of July is a big to-do, so it’s fun to include a little Americana in your style. Of course, you don’t want to look cheesy. How do you dress to celebrate this patriotic holiday without going overboard? Here are some ideas.
1. Wear Something Nautical Inspired
A nautical-inspired look is a natural choice when dressing for the 4th of July. This cute navy and white outfit is a great example.
White flare jeans and rope wedges give off a sailor-like vibe. Combine them with a navy cold shoulder top, and you have a clean, crisp, patriotic look. If you are stepping out for a bite to an outdoor cafe (with social distancing in mind), this would be ideal!
2. A Red Maxi is Fabulous!
A soft, relaxed maxi dress in red, white, or blue is a comfy and festive way to look party-ready on Independence Day. Wear this maxi dress it as is, or slip it on over top of your swimsuit when you are in the backyard or by the water. Cute flat sandals are great with this maxi. A straw bag is gorgeous this time of year ( especially this one!) and tassel earrings are also a great way to add texture to an outfit which always adds life!
3. Try an All American Red, White, and Blue Shorts Outfit
Naturally, red, white, and blue are the colors of the day, and if you are going to wear all three, then the trick is to keep it simple. You don’t need equal amounts of all three colors, and often the more straightforward the pieces, the better for a classy look.
For example, for this 4th of July Outfit idea, we’ve combined a classic pair of white jean shorts with a pretty blue off-the-shoulder top. Then we’ve added just a touch of red in the way of these cute earrings. It’s a simple color-blocked look that is very fresh and modern. When things get too busy, is when a 4th of July outfit looks cheesy.
4. You Can’t go Wrong With Denim
There’s nothing more American than Denim or Chambray, which is why this chambray jumpsuit is perfect to wear on this national birthday. This sporty jumpsuit is such a cute change from jeans and requires not much else to look fabulous. This is such a great piece because you can wear it with so many other colors and in so many other ways. Plus, it’s a nice change from regular pants. Flatforms, a red crossbody bag and floral earrings add some life.
5. Celebrate with Stripes
Slipdress styles have been trending lately, and linen is always a popular summer fabric. A chic linen dress combines both of those things! Just add some strappy flat sandals, some fun tassel earrings, and a cute summer bag, and you are all set for an outdoor picnic or an evening of fireworks!
6. Pull on a Patriotic T-shirt
This cute star t-shirt is just the kind of patriotic clothing that is fun to add to your favorite blue shorts. A crisp white bag, comfy rope espadrilles, and dangly silver earrings, and this beautiful bag dress up this holiday look.
7. Wave the Flag in all White
Imagine this figure-flattering wrap maxi and gold wedges as you’re sitting by the pool with your neighbors, sipping on a glass of Pinot Grigio, sun blaring, sunglasses on, purse by your side watching the guys bbq, and the kids splashing around in the pool (or lounging on the deck, all eyes glued to their iPhone screens is more like it- lol!!)
8. Get Inspiration from Fireworks
Here’s another easy idea for what to wear on July 4th. White capris are a summer favorite. Add a darling top, a summery red tote, and rope sandals, and then head on over to your friend’s place for a fun summer party.
9. Get Yourself a Red, White, and Blue Hoodie
There’s nothing like Holiday fireworks to make you want to celebrate. Cute and easy, this comfy all-American outfit is perfect for sitting outside and watching the sky light up. Aren’t the sneakers fun too?
10. Wave the American Flag in a Statement Tee
Celebrate America’s birthday in comfort and style with one of many 4th of July t-shirts you will find in stores at this time of year. For example, this patriotic USA statement tee looks really trendy with a pair of stylish denim culottes. Add a cute white circle bag and a pair of flat mules, and you have a stylish start to your holiday long weekend.
