Are you going to a conference and wondering what to wear? Last week I posted my photos from the AICI image Consulting Conference in Washington. This week – part 2. Here’s a look at what over 40 women in the business of image and style wear when they want to look their best networking.
Here’s a professional look with a modern twist. A dress with a suit jacket spells business, but see how the asymmetrical neckline of the dress makes this outfit so much more interesting than plain old corporate? This suit has personality and style, and the red shoes add energy and a touch of excitement. This is a great look for any business conference.
This is my kind of look. I’m a big fan of sheath dresses for conferences and networking events. A sheath dress is easy, sophisticated and it shows off your figure. I love this gorgeous knit Becky Rupiper Greene has chosen. Not only is the purple rich looking, but the way it has been color blocked with solid panels whittles her waist.
The 3/4 length sleeves are a 40+ gal’s dream. I know many of you like the coverage and these sleeves cover you just enough without looking all buttoned up. A little skin is sexy and youthful. I could see this dress working for work or after hours. It’s very versatile.
There’s always a day of the conference when you feel like dressing a bit a bit more casual, but you still want to look professional and classy. Here’s an ideal outfit. Look how relaxed but elegant this black silk top looks paired with these lovely printed leggings.
The Mary Jane shoes are right on trend, as are her bold statement earrings. Accessories like these make your outfit. Fab look!
One of the best ways to get noticed when you are networking is to add a burst of color. Pam Friedlander looks poised and powerful in this elegant royal blue jacket that she has paired with a laser cut pencil skirt.
This perforated piece is more modern and youthful than a plain skirt. Her black ankle strap heels also add a slight edge to her look. The fabulous necklace puts the emphasis up where it needs to be- by her pretty face!
I love meeting my readers, so it was a wonderful surprise to run into Jo Shiers from Australia. Jo looked fab in her feminine, floral pencil skirt and sheer knit black top. Take a look at the proportions of this outfit. The top is longer than the skirt, making it much more figure flattering than if the top had been the same length as the skirt. That’s style.
I loved Jo’s fab statement necklace because it brought color and energy to her face, and her nude shoes helped lengthen her petite frame. Doesn’t she look great?
Now here’s a Glam Gal if I ever saw one! Evelyn Lundstrom looked stunning in this chic black top and leggings. If you are going to do pearls, go big like Evelyn did. Great red, and black colored blocked patent leather sandals. They’re the perfect finishing touch.
Which of these outfits is your favorite and what do you wear to networking events? I’d love to know, and I’m sure my other readers would be excited to hear your ideas.
