Silver Leopard Shoes
Dear Glam Gal,
My husband bought me these amazing shoes but I don’t know what to wear them with to update my look. On one occasion I wore them with leather pants and a flowing orange top. They are nice shoes but sit in the box a lot. Thanks for any advice so I can wear these shoes.~Colleen
Hi Colleen,
Maybe it’s never dawned on you, but my gut feeling is that your spouse really didn’t buy these shoes just for you.
These are for strutting around in the bedroom! Just think, they would match the “pole” perfectly!!
But seriously… he sounds like a true sweetie to buy you such hot shoes! Best of all he must think you are super sexy!!
However, the problem with these shoes are two-fold. The silver part is a bit on the shiny side (would have liked to have seen them in black or muted gold with the leopard)…and frankly the two tones (warm~animal print and cool~silver) are fighting with each other. But not to fret….we think you can make them work!
Here’s how:
- try tight, straight leg, pencil jeans
- a white t-shirt
- jean jacket
These shoes are definitely bold, and so if you wanted to add color:
- they would need to be paired with a top that has cool tones, like blue or fuchsia
- you should wear them with some over the top silver jewelry (like a wide cuff)… or some rhinestones!
They are flashy, and so you really shouldn’t take them too seriously, therefore would not wear them with leather pants and don’t feel guilty if you hit the town in them only a few times a year.
Meanwhile, wear them as much as you want for your sweetie! Ladies…What do you think she should wear with these shoes?….Also, why not send me a picture of you in your sexiest shoes and I’ll post it? Don’t be shy.
Definitely with skinny jeans…He’s got good taste
I like those shoes! Wow. I would wear them with my go-to black pencil skirt, white blouse and wide black belt. More casually with straight leg, dark wash jeans and my white, sleeveless ruffled top.
I think those shoes are super hot and if anybody should be wearing those pumps its definitely a confident woman who knows her style and that = fortysomething diva! I would rock those with a red pencil skirt and brown or deep teal blazer. Those should be in my closet and I’m 47! LOL
OOHHHH Budget Chic, that would be a fun outfit!!!
I looked again, even did an outfit on polyvore but didn’t want to register to post there and I stand by the idea of chocolate brown slacks – the spots in the shoes have deep brown tones so it kind of *has* to work or the shoes just don’t work by themselves. The landsend v-neck green sweater, deep chocolate brown slacks and a satchel of linen, brown and black work really well with simple silver jewelry
Hi Kelly, OK..we might just head over to polyvore ourselves…would be interested to try it. Hey Coleen, hope you are reading this!! You need to head out to the store with those shoes on and try on some of these ideas and shoot us a few photos! Would love to see those shoes toned down and the results!
Life is too short to wear boring clothes all the time. I like these shoes!
I would wear them with a chocolate brown, supple jersey dress (wrap style with a v neck and just to the knee) super sheer coffee colored stockings, a bold silver cuff and big silver ethnic earrings —probably Zuni, not thin hoops.
I agree with jeans (blue jeans, not black or white or colored) and a simple white, black or maybe charcoal T-top with a silver cuff would be fun and not too flashy. I’d keep any other jewelry to a minimum and the purse low key black. You might be able to also make these work with deep brown slacks and a simple spring green v-neck sweater with a mix of brown/silver low key jewelry for a more “professional” look. The key is the right green with the brown – couldn’t be pastel or deep green, needs to be more like new growth.
Hi kelly,
Thanks…for some more great ideas! The black purse (or clutch) idea is perfect. But deep brown pants…with those bright silver shoes? Still think she should keep to just the blue jeans and not try to make it professional. Those are going out to rock the town shoes!
Well, I think you’re being a bit harsh on the shoes. I love them. They have that rocker chic, edgy look. I’d wear them with tight pencil jeans, a graphic Tee, sliver cuff (as mentioned above) and a leather jacket. I’d wear to dinner downtown at some hip new place.
Hi Erika,
OK..you might be right… FUN is what it’s all about! Thanks for your thoughts, they are right on!
ooh la la Definitely need to play down the rest of the outfit with these shoes. Probably something quite plain & I agree go with some chunky silver jewellery maybe. A cuff would be perfect. Good luck.
