I hope you’ve been enjoying my 2 Ways/7 Days series this week, where every day, I style one item in two different ways. I am a big believer in getting maximum wardrobe mileage out of everything I buy, and I hope I’ve been helping you see how you can do the same.
Today I am featuring these hip blue velvet jeans. Velvet is a HUGE trend this fall. We’re seeing it in everything from dresses to skirts to bottoms to tops like this one that I wore in a recent post. Here’s what you can do with them.
Velvet Jeans – Dressy Look
The beautiful thing about velvet this time around is that women are wearing this luxe fabric in every way imaginable. Where once it was reserved for holiday-time dresses, skirts, and blazers, this season velvet t-shirts and jeans are a fun and hip way to update your wardrobe.
I love these blue velvet pants. They’re so much more chic and sophisticated than your average dark blue denim. This lovely antique cream sweater, with its double tier bell sleeves, looks more formal and romantic than your everyday crew neck or button-up sweater. Together with the jeans, this makes an excellent outfit for a casual dinner out or dropping in at a friend’s holiday party.
The key to dressing them up has a lot to do with your accessories. These feminine bow-tie flats with the pretty studs add an elegant feel as does the gold chain link bag.
Also If you like a dressy look that has a more edgy-vibe, swap out the nude shoes and bag for black high heels and the cream sweater for a sexy black sweater or blouse,(Navy looks fantastic with black!), an excellent knit or silky material adds to the dressed-up look.
Velvet Jeans – Casual Look
As I mentioned above, velvet is having a daytime moment – you don’t have to save it for special occasions. For an everyday look, go with a simple long-sleeved t-shirt and a pair of booties. To keep you warm, I’ve paired these jeans with a long-sleeve tee and added a long grey vest overtop. The bag and booties work perfectly with this outfit.
What do you think about the velvet-for-day trend? Can you see yourself wearing velvet for more casual occasions? I’m curious.
