Budget-Friendly Cozy Cardigans from Walmart
Layering something over a pair of pants and a top is the easiest way to uplevel a casual outfit. A crisp blazer is one way to do it, but for a softer, cozier look, a cardigan is a way to go.
My wardrobe is full of cardigans that are long, short, smooth, nubby- you name it, and in many colors too. Cardigans are a great way to extend your wardrobe because you can mix and match to create dozens of different looks.
Walmart has a great selection of cardigans that are budget friendly and look cute with a pair of jeans. Here are a few of my favorites and some affordable basics to wear them with.
Long Ribbed Cardigan
One of the best things about cardigans is they can add texture to a very plain outfit. This white top and polished, gray cropped jeans come to life when you layer on this chic ribbed sweater. Yes, it’s a fabulous color, but the ribbing also makes the outfit since it adds much-needed dimension.
Walmart also has some great accessories like the ones I’ve added here. I love this ruched, faux leather bag with the suede fabric-blocked sides. The black boots are just my style – sleek and classic. Add some modern gold hoops, and you have a smart-looking, no-fuss, everyday look.
Cardigans are also a great way to add a punch of color to a pair of jeans and a neutral top. Colorblocking is one of my favorite ways to do this. This sporty cardigan combines some exciting colors you wouldn’t instantly think to put together. They give the outfit a fun, creative vibe.
I’ve layered this cardigan over an effortless, neutral top that doesn’t compete with the cardigan. Colorblocked cardigans are also fun because you can pick up on some of the colors in your accessories. For example, the beautiful green quilted bag mirrors the green in the cardigan. I love this bag. It looks very designer at a fraction of the price!
Lug-sole boots are all the rage, and I thought this Chelsea boot style in ivory was a good match with the light-wash jeans. Finally, those cute burnished gold leaf earrings tie into the camel color in the sweater perfectly.
Classic Cardigan
It’s always good to have a very basic short cardigan in your wardrobe. This Time and Tru Open Front Cardigan is a good one. It’s a fine knit with lovely, big, cozy pockets and no buttons up the front. I’m showing it in gray here, but it also comes in a gorgeous red and several other colors.
This is just a handy piece when you are running out to the grocery store, or you can wear it around the house when you are working on the computer and need a little something to look and feel dressed for your day.
I’m a big fan of flare jeans, and these Time and Tru highrise are so figure-flattering. I like to wear them with these Steve Madden pointy-toe booties to elongate my legs and give me a sleek look. Most people don’t think to put brown with gray, but it is actually a very chic combo. Top it off with another neutral- a soft black bag, and add these silver plated twist hoop earrings, and you have a relaxed, elegant neutral look.
So the next time you are trying to figure out why your outfit looks so plain, think about adding a cardigan! All the Walmart cardigans and other budget-friendly pieces I have linked above!
*Thanks to Walmart for sponsoring this post. All opinions are mine.
Since I am not 5’9″ and I’m bigger than an extra small, I would appreciate seeing what the Walmart outfit could look like on someone shaped like me.
I just wanted to thank you for posting a budget-friendly article. I’ve always loved your picks, but sadly I can’t afford most of the items you post. So I look and dream. This time I can buy what you recommend. ???? More, please!
Great to know KC!
