5 Good Reasons to Own a Colorful Fringe Jacket

I’ve been looking for a colorful fringe jacket for a very long time, so it was a no brainer when I finally found this one. A fringe jacket like this works on so many levels.  Here’s why I love it, plus 5 good reasons you may want one too.

1.  A Colorful Fringe Jacket Adds Polish

Any jacket worn with jeans and a top will instantly pull your outfit together, but some jackets can look a little serious or stiff.  My fringe jacket is an interesting combination of chic meets playful, which means you will look polished but not stuffy.

3.  It’s Youthful

Fringe jackets are made of tweed, and tweed has many shades of thread running through it. This gives fringe jackets gorgeous color and dimension.

Wearing color (instead of a lot of blacks) is very important as we age because older women tend to look washed out.  If you can find a fringe jacket in a color that flatters your hair and skin, it will instantly take ten years off. My fringe jacket is a pinky-coral color with white, gray, and metallic threads running through it. I find it gives my skin a fresh, warm glow.

3.  It’s a Modern Change from a Cardigan

I’m always a little on the chilly side, but find wearing cardigans can get a little boring ( and look a little old). As for blazers, sometimes they feel too heavy and structured for my liking. I’ve found that a colorful fringe jacket is a perfect alternative.

Most fringe trim jackets are soft and lightweight. They’re not as structured, so they look and feel more relaxed, and they’re super comfy to wear. I like this modern look!

4.  A Fringe Jacket is Ideal for Travel

Since my fringe jacket is so light and unstructured, it’s perfect for traveling. I can just roll it up in a ball and toss it in my suitcase, or throw it in the overhead bin of the airplane. There’s no worry about getting it creased, and it’s so versatile that I can wear it with neutral travel basics such as blue, navy, white, or tan dresses, pants, shirts, or jeans.

5.  It’s Timeless

Coco Chanel was the first to design the tweed fringe jacket, and it has remained a classic ever since. A fringe jacket will look just as great a few years from now as it does today. It is timeless. This one has an interesting modern twist, an angled bottom, which creates a very slimming look. My Michael Kors Chanel style bag is right in sync with the jacket.

  1. Love the fringe jacket. Would you show us how to wear it with a dress? I am going to a fundraising gala in May in New England. This jacket will be as perfect over a dress. Any ideas? I’m petite, sheath style dresses don’t work on me — more of an A-line or shift style.
Thanks, and I love your blog!
