Though it’s not usually thought of as a top fall color, an unexpected pop of pink is just what you need during these dreary months. This fall Pink has been seen in feminine silhouettes all over the runway, making it time to re-think this otherwise springtime color.
Wearing pink can understandably be a little scary – no one wants to leave the house looking like Barbie’s new sidekick. But with the right balance, pink can add life to your outfit and your looks, especially over 40.
Here’s How to Wear Pink at 40, 50 and Beyond
If you want to look grown-up, and not girly in pink, pair pink with quieter, more traditional fall colors like grey, camel, and navy.
Also, place pink up near your face by wearing a pink sweater, jacket, or blouse. Why near your face?
As you age, you lose color in your face, and you started looking pale and washed out. A touch of pink worn up top brings a beautiful blush to your skin, giving you a healthy, youthful glow.
Pink can be dramatic and lovely as a cocktail dress for a special event. Or, a simple way to ease into pink is to trade in a boring basic black blazer for a pink one. If bright shades of pink, like this one above, still feel daunting, there are many softer shades of pink that are lovely and more laid back.
While it might be fun to rock a head-to-toe pink pantsuit, I don’t blame you for feeling a little uneasy. Instead, why not roll with a pink and grey outfit? A pink jacket with a tailored grey pant and grey satin cami creates an elegant look that would be perfect for the office. The grey/ pink color combination is business-like but feminine too.
A navy blue/camel trouser with a pale pink blouse is another great way to welcome pink into your wardrobe.
You can keep the pink up top with a pair of shiny pink earrings. Subtle pink diamond studs would also look luxurious too.
Don’t go crazy with pink bags and heels – That’s overkill. It’s better to keep accessories grey or neutral and don’t be afraid to play with a texture like snakeskin or suede to keep the look interesting.
