Michael Kors Cropped Jumpsuit: Style Review
Hi Ladies, Today, I’m stepping out in a trendy new look that you could say is in full bloom right now! I’m talking about my new Michael Kors Cropped Jumpsuit.
Jumpsuits, especially cropped jumpsuits are big for spring and summer. I’m excited because up until now in the hot weather, I’ve been mainly a white jeans gal with the odd sundress thrown in here and there.
That’s fine, but it can get a little boring, so now I have this cute new option, which I would say is a cross between cropped pants and a flowy dress. Culotte jumpsuits, as they’re also called, are comfortable to wear and perfect for my casually chic lifestyle (and yours too, I’m sure!)
Now, if you think my cropped jumpsuit looks a tad familiar, you’re right. I bought this same one in solid navy a couple of seasons ago when the trend was taking root. This one has an Ikat print, which makes it a little less formal. It looked fabulous on, so I thought, why not? I’m a big believer that if something works, buy it again, and make it a part of your signature style.
One of the things you should look for when buying any jumpsuit is waist definition. By this, I mean, look for a jumpsuit that nips in at the waist, via tailoring, elastic, ruching, whatever, if you want to look good. This one was beautifully made to skim the body and comes with a thin belt, which I prefer to tie at the waist to keep the look more casual.
I’d call this classic American style with a modern twist. It’s from Michael Kors, one of my favorite, go-to designers. I wear Michael Kors all the time, although I’ll admit haven’t bought as much in the last year or so because MK has been putting out some pretty weird things- like the Graffiti collection- what was with that?
There was the turquoise and black capsule- and what I call the bumblebee capsule – bright yellow and black. These both featured very high contrast color combinations, which looked edgy and harsh. They weren’t very attractive and were hard for gals our age to wear. I’m so glad to see Michael Kors brought back some reds, whites, and blue that look good on everyone.
Now don’t laugh, but many women complain to me that jumpsuits are a pain to get on and off when you use the lady’s room. This jumpsuit has a convenient shoulder zipper that makes it easy, plus I think it looks totally chic. Mind you; I’m a big fan of gold detail. If this zipper were silver, I wouldn’t have bought it. The gold goes so well with my coloring that I stick to gold, always.
Here’s a nice shot of the earrings. I chose these because the irregular shape of the three hoops mimics the irregular shape of the dots in the ikat print. I also love the way the large, tiered earrings draw attention to the zipper. I didn’t add a necklace since I wore big earrings. Plus, the zipper is almost like jewelry itself; it’s so beautiful.
You could wear this outfit with red white or blue accessories, but I went the softer route and chose off-white and nude shades that had a touch of blush in them.
The off-white tote bag with the gold link chain is Kate Spade. A crossbody would look very sporty too.
My strappy wedge suede mules are a pinky-beige shade, just a little darker than the bag. I like some height when I’m wearing cropped pants, but you could also wear this jumpsuit with a flat slide or even a statement sneaker! Yes, statement sneakers and cropped jumpsuits are a legit look!

Bought this on sale from your link. Looks great on. Great recommendation!
Dara,
I’m so glad! I love mine too!
The jumpsuit looks excellent on you. I have a couple, and they are easy to get off! I like that about the ones I have.
Thank you for your blog.
Thanks for the lovely compliment, Nicole! I love one-piece dressing. It makes things so easy! Cheers, Deb
