Melt Away Winter in a Mint Green Sweater

I’m heading down south in a couple of weeks, and I’ve been on the lookout for clothes that are light and cheery.  Today I’m excited to partner with Nordstrom to bring you this fabulous spring outfit.

Color is everything to me, which is why I went gaga over this gorgeous mint green pullover. (similar green sweater here) It’s the most breathtaking shade of green you’ll ever see, so clear and fresh that it looks like it belongs in a beautiful garden full of gorgeous spring flowers.  After a winter of black, gray, and burgundy, this pretty pastel jumped off the hanger at me!

This sweater is from Eileen Fisher, a popular brand at Nordstrom, especially with women over 40, and it’s no wonder. They’re known for their simple, beautiful, and comfortable clothes that all work together. When I think of Eileen Fisher, I think of relaxing clothes that have an effortless elegance to them. They’re perfect for my casual, midlife lifestyle.

My lovely mint sweater is made from breathable organic cotton and linen yarn. Eileen Fisher is big on natural materials and dyes, which not only makes her clothes look and feel beautiful, but it also makes me feel good wearing them because I know I’m kind to the environment.

I talked about her pieces mixing and matching together, and this scarf is a good example. I often come across a top and think it would be nice if the brand had designed a scarf or some other small thing to wear with it. Eileen Fisher has taken care of that. This light and airy mint green scarf with the subtle ikat stripes and festive tassel fringe works perfectly with my pullover. It also mixes and matches with lots of other pieces in her collection.

My scarf looks lovely as is, but I like a little sparkle, so I’ve added this Fringe Necklace.

Did you notice the back of the sweater? It’s got a high-low thing going on. It’s a little longer in the back than the front, making it look much more modern than a regular sweater, and it’s easy to layer. If you wear a button-up shirt underneath, it will peek out the front of the sweater.

White jeans are light and airy backdrop to cool, soft mint, but you could also pair this mint sweater with black pants if you felt it was too early to wear white. This would look quite stunning, too.  The scarf has small black stripes, which would tie in really well with black pants. Mint + black is a great way to transition from winter to spring.

I like ankle-grazing jeans best. I think they’re more sporty and modern than full length. A bit of stretch always helps too!

This is a fab outfit that you can wear in many places. You could wear it shopping, traveling, if you could wear it if you were going out for a bite to eat. It’s versatile, which is nice because when I spend good money on clothes, I like to be sure I get lots of use out of them.

What I also really like about this sweater is that it’s lightweight. You get that hip, layered look, but you aren’t weighed down. I love wearing my mint sweater with a crossbody bag so that I can go hands-free. My favorite is this oval, pebbled leather Michael Kors crossbody bag in nude. The light shade keeps the whole look soft and fresh.

I’ve got to mention my shoes. I adore sneakers ( so practical ) and these cute perforated sneakers which work perfectly with my outfit.

They’re suede and the prettiest, soft pinky/brown color. They read neutral, and they look great with mint.  Plus, the lacy perforations draw your eyes in, giving the shoe a natural feel that goes with the organic knit.

I’m ready for spring! I can’t wait to get down south in my new outfit and start soaking up the sun.

  1. Beautiful outfit, Deborah — the mint green sweater is so fresh with your coloring. I’ve got a case of spring fever just looking at this outfit. Love the nude perforated sneakers too. And I am going to shop for those white jeans!

I’ve been an Eileen Fisher fan for nearly 20 years. Her clothing is beautifully made, classic and comfortable. When I can’t figure out what to wear to a story interview (I’m a freelance journalist) or an event, I always reach for an elegant EF jacket and fabulous knit slacks, or one of her simple dresses. So easy to accessorize. And EF SHOES are so incredibly comfortable — I am embarrassed to admit how many pairs I’ve collected in recent years!
