Polished and Pretty Women Over 40 ~What I Wore

This week 3 of my readers sent in photos of clean, polished looks that are perfect for lunch with the girls or a night out for cocktails and dinner. Take a look at these fabulous ladies.

Every woman needs a sheath dress in her closet. It’s a classic style that you can wear pretty much anywhere, and it’s extremely flattering on most body types.

Debbie, 61 from Wisconsin, looks stunning in this happy yellow color.  In fact, her husband tells her when she wear this dress she “lights up his life!”  (Ahhh, that’s so sweet!)

I love the way Debbie has added a thin black belt and a navy scarf with touches of gold. It emphasizes the beautiful simplicity of her dress and adds a sporty touch.

You look like a ray of sunshine Debbie!

tuxedo-jacketTuxedo Look

Feminine Menswear has been popular this fall, and that includes the tuxedo trend.

When Natalie joined her friends for a girls’ night out, she wanted an outfit that was fun, comfortable, and on trend. She knew her black jeans paired with a black blouse needed a little extra flair, so she added a white tuxedo jacket with black trim, and voila!   Her outfit was elevated to a totally new level.

To balance this masculine look, Natalie added a pendant necklace and a super fun pair of caged heels. Looking hot Natalie!

Forget plunging necklines and short hemlines. Tall boots are where it’s at when it comes to looking sexy over 40, 50, and beyond this fall.

I’ve featured Donna, a loyal reader from New Jersey, several times, and she always looks classy and age appropriate.

For a first birthday and pre-Thanksgiving party, Donna struggled with how to pair tall boots with her colorful Jean Paul Gaultier dress. Given the day’s cold temps, Donna says boots and tights were a definite must. So, she went with her tall Sam Edelman boots and tights and the ended up with wow outfit.

Donna, You look Age-Amazing. The tights bridge the gap between the dress and boots and let that stunning dress take center stage.

  1. Now Debbie has the perfect, polished look that I love! The sleeves are perfect, the length is just right and this dress color does look great on her. I love how she dressed it down with the sandals but it could easily be dressed up. This look is a winner for me!
