Everything is coming up light, bright and beautiful this spring. Here’s a look at the latest trends in spring-summer fashion so you can get your list ready and start shopping!
Spring-Summer Fashion Trends 2014 include ( in no special order):
1. Wearable Art
Some of the latest styles look like they were lifted from an art gallery with the arrival of living, walking art inspired clothing. The bolder and brighter the prints, the better. This happens to be my favorite trend. I like color and a touch of drama.
2. What a Good Sport
Get ready to get your game on with sporty styles loaded with athletic accents. Not your typical uniform, these casual looks are perfect for a day of errands or a walk on the beach. Remember sporty is youthful, so you may want to incorporate some of these elements.
3. Metallic Mindset
Dress in drama from head to toe. These flashy metallic pieces will have you feeling like a million bucks. If you like to shine, this might be for you. The metallic trend is a bit of a 90’s throwback.
4. Box it Up
Boxy tops and jackets team up with wide pants for a modern silhouette that’s ultra chic. We’ll have to see how this pans out. Got to admit it seems hard to wear over 40. Boxy on a boxy mid-life body…not for everybody.
5. For the Sheer Fun of it
Blouses, dresses and skirts with sheer panels, windows, and layering give an airy look to this year’s very feminine and floaty styles. I like this sheer trend when worn tastefully – meaning sheer in less obvious places. Perfect for those hot, breezy days too.
6. Perfect Pleats
Lady-like pleats with a razor sharp edge add a modern vibe to a classic style. If you like traditional, this is a pretty new spin.
7. Fantastic Florals
Celebrate spring with a burst of blooms. Try mixing floral prints for a garden effect or go for bold with the new 3D floral. I never get tired of florals! Whether they’re bright, pastel or dark ( the newest floral) they’re guaranteed to be one of everyone’s favorite spring-summer 2014 fashion trends.
8. Wide Pants
Slouchy pants and wide palazzo’s send a relaxed new message this spring. I like them, but there are tricks to wearing them right that I will share in an upcoming post.
9. Fringe Benefits
Fun and flirty, fringe moves to center stage as a new spring accent. Different, but I doubt long-lasting so don’t spend too much. As an accent works best.
10. Global Inspiration
A well-travelled lady is a fashionable lady. Take inspiration from your favorite looks across the globe in tribal prints and exotic materials. Layer on earthy stones, metallic accents, beading and fringe and you have a Haute hippie look that is rich and beautiful.
