Street Fashion at NY Fashion Week

There’s no better spot to do some serious people-watching than the streets of New York City during Fashion Week.  Styles range from conservative to outlandish, with attendees vying for the attention of wandering street photographers. Please take a look at the fashionable and sometimes wacky looks we spotted at this week’s fashion parade.

Streets Explode With Color

Why stop at your clothing? This gal likes to keep her makeup colorful, too, with electric blue lips and purple nail polish. Cool or Crazy?

This happy trio is having fun with prints. The wrap blouse in a tie-dye print paired with a long, flowy scarf looks boho chic. It’s nice to see those dark florals are still popular on the fashion scene…

*Many Thanks to Gabriel  Saldarriaga for taking these fabulous photos from NY Fashion week.

Meanwhile, at Toronto Fashion Week, I sent street fashion photographer “Walking Canucks” out to take some shots of the fashion elite who attended the big shows. These included buyers, designers, fashion editors, publicists, and the like. Interestingly enough, my photographer came back with a lot of photos of women wearing all black.

Like our neighbors to the south (New Yorkers),  Torontonians (and other Canadians) love wearing black. Cape! So chic. Don’t you love the glasses?

  1. I always enjoy ‘real women’ pics. I like to see what other women my age are wearing – not just celebs. I thought they looked great and showed individuality .

  2. That is what these photo’s say to me: beautiful clothes look great on beautiful real women, not only on 19 years old or skinny types. So good to see these photo’s, of women like us. They all look gorgeous.

  3. I wish more women would look in the mirror before they go outside. Most women, especially as we age, just do not have the legs for the bare-legged look. The first woman is an exception, possibly a former dancer? Other than that, the clothing was (mostly) fun and age-appropriate at the same time. Not a big fan of midriffs showing anywhere but on the beach.

    1. You know, I was thinking the same thing. We’ve all been brainwashed that you need to go bare legged or you won’t look modern, but it is such an awful look on so many mature women. The problem is finding a sheer hose that really is super sheer. I sometimes wear Donn Karan Nudes because I find them to be very natural. I’d suggest those for anyone who wants a touch a coverage. Thanks for your comments.

  4. I love the lady in the first picture. She looks amazing, love the jacket, love the shoes. I can’t get away with wearing heels like that. Good for her. She looks fabulous.

  5. It seems as though women of a certain, fabulous age still seem to want to match colors in their outfits, which I am ALL for. I can’t help it, but I love the matchy matchy. Seems I’m not the only one! And that blue dress was gorgeous.
