With so many new fashion trends for fall, how do you sort out what’s wacky and what works? Here’s a rundown of what’s worth paying attention to in 2016.
1. Off the Shoulder
Doesn’t matter that temperatures have dropped. The summer off the shoulder trend continues into fall. Look for sweater dresses and cocktail party frocks with sexy off the shoulder detail.
2. Bell Sleeves
Some of fall’s cutest dresses and tops have wide bell sleeves that make you think back to the 60’s and 70’s. These are going to be a big hit on the cocktail circuit this holiday season.
3. Ponchos and Capelets
The easiest way to transition from summer to fall and look chic doing it? – Try a tailored capelet or rustic poncho over top of jeans or your favorite casual outfit.
4. Rich Velvet
Dark, moody, romantic clothes with a renaissance feel are all the fashion, which is why rich velvet fits right in.
5. Dark Green
It’s dark like black but a whole lot livelier. A dark meadow green is soaking up the spotlight this fall. Wear it alone, head to toe, mixed with navy or as an accessory, like a purse.
Feminine and flirty, ruffles continue to be popular this fall. The bigger, the better. Bold ruffles are beautiful and dramatic.
7. Statement Chokers
It’s been a long while since we’ve seen this trend and it’s fun and feminine for fall.
8. Bomber Jackets
Bomber jacket of all types are the new “it” jacket. Shearling bombers are particularly popular and will keep you cozy as winter rolls in.
Rich and rustic suede jackets, skirts, boots, and bags are a nod to the 70’s trend.
10. Turtlenecks Under Dresses
You’ll find turtlenecks under jumper style dresses, and under slip dresses too- yes really! The latter is definitely one for the fashion forward.
