Cozy sweaters, deep, rich colors, cute booties…Are you as excited about fall as I am?
If you’re dying to get shopping, be sure to do a quick trend analysis first. Otherwise, you’ll end up blowing a bundle on the wrong things just because they are shiny and new. Here’s a rundown of what’s trending for Fall 2015. See which looks might work for you.
1. Bow Tie Blouses
Get ready to tie on one this fall, in a lady- like way of course. Pretty bow tie blouses have made a comeback. I think these will be a huge hit and it’s worth the splurge to buy a nice one.
2. Capes and Ponchos
Capes and ponchos are still going strong and are the best way to add a dash of drama this fall. They are an easy way to look modern, and they are very practical, especially when you have a casual lifestyle, and you need to throw something on and go.
3. Carwash Pleats
Fringe is still fabulous, and you will see lots of it, but the newest thing is carwash pleats. Granted, they’re not for everyone, since they are more fashion forward. Still, I bet there will be some more tamed down versions out there that will quite wearable.
4. Very Victorian
Prim and Proper appear to be a theme. High necks, ruffles, they’re all part of the Victorian trend. It’s going to take me a while to warm up to this one, but if you like a feminine fussiness, this could work for you.
A mishmash of fabrics, textures, and colors. This is not your grandma’s quilt; still, I think you can easily overdo this trend. Less is more if you don’t want to look like a bag lady.
6. It’s a Cinch
This season, it’s all about cinching in the waist. High waistlines and big belts give you that instant hourglass shape! Yay! A nipped-in waist looks feminine and youthful. I’m so glad the emphasis is shifting to this part of the body. I’m tired of the focus being on the booty and breasts.
7. Bohemian Rhapsody
The 70’s vibe continues this fall with boho glam. It looks lovely if you have the free spirit personality to match– It’s a disaster if you choose to wear this trend simply because it is the trend. Boho is a mindset.
8. Window Pane Checks
It’s hip to be square this fall. Squares and windowpane checks in bold graphic black and white are the patterns of the season! This is modern and interesting because there are so many ways they are spinning it.
9. Ribbed Knits
Ribbed Knits, especially turtlenecks are the newest twist on the chunky knit trend. These are a great addition to any wardrobe no matter what neckline.
10. Gray Matter
I think it’s the novel 50 Shades of Gray that has kept this color in the forefront of fashion. I must admit I was getting a little tired of gray but find it does look rather nice combined with the deeper Pantone shades this fall. Gray works best on cool gals who have ash hair and pink undertones to their skin.
11. Big Earrings
Now this is fun! First we had statement necklaces, now statement earrings have arrived. It’s like the 80’s all over again.
12. Cropped Boots
Somewhere between an ankle bootie and tall boot lies the cropped boot. I haven’t made up my mind about this style yet. I’m more into elongating my legs, but I’m willing to try on a few pairs. What about you – like or dislike?
