Dobbin Style – Clothing You’ve Been Asking For

Over and over I get the same question: “Where can I buy casual  clothes that are fashionable and modern and that don’t make me look like an old lady or my teenage daughter either?”

I know what you mean. It’s hard to find a clothing company that gets it, until now! I’ve just discovered a wonderful new casual  line called Dobbin Clothing.

dobbin clothing

Dobbin designs clothes for 40+ women that are chic and have a wonderful fit.

Owners Jessica Gold Newman and Catherine Doyle – met at Liz Lange Maternity in 2003, where they headed the company’s marketing and fashion design. They bonded quickly over their mutual love of art and literature, vintage fashion, and the city of Paris and have been friends and business partners ever since.

The two fashionistas started Dobbin with a simple idea: create a line of fashionable staples, tailored to fit and flatter, using the best Italian fabrics, and manufactured here in the USA. “We also knew we wanted to keep prices under $200 without sacrificing quality, so we set out to sell exclusively online, where we could cut out the middle-man and pass the savings to our customers.”

Everything Dobbin designs is inspired by friends, family and customers looking for those must have quality pieces they just can’t find anywhere else at an affordable price. The clothing is classic and beautiful and the fabrics luxurious. Take a look for yourself.

P.S. Congratulations to Sharlyn Lauby. You have won $200.00 in beautiful Dobbin Clothing in our Fabulous after 40 contest!

I have to tell you I’m not impressed. This is just drab, dull and old looking. Not many choices and kind of spendy. Two thumbs down. but I still love ya!

I think the length could be about two inches shorter and I would like it better. That would put it about an inch above the knee. I visited the Dobbin Clothing website and really liked the Osa jersey skirt. Looking forward the seeing future offers form Dobbin. They seem to have a good thing going for our age and with style.

I think the skirt is adorable but feel it should be about an inch shorter…just at the top of the knee. I think at the knee makes the bottom half of the leg look a little short/frumpy. I am wondering about the sleeveless tops for women over 40 with lunch lady flab upper arms?!?

The skirt length looks about right. Right now I’m seeing lots of maxi & mini skirts in the stores so am having a tough time finding one that stops at (or reaches to)the knees. The print is nice too. However, the piece I’m thinking of getting is The Carmel Slub Cotton Knit Jacket! It looks like a great piece to have and it’s styled very very well. The sleeves are cut so a slim wrist will show which is flattering. It’s a low hip length which is nice for covering “assets” and a nice length for wearing an untucked and belted at the waist blouse underneath. The vertical lines are fantastic too: a long unbroken line down the front from the jacket’s edges & the vertical panels in the front and back. The long line of the jacket’s front is good for long necklaces and scarves as well as shorter accessories. The horizontal line across the back broadens the shoulders and balances the hips while the horizontal line across the chest highlights the bust. Lastly, the textured fabric is a great soft petal pink color – so feminine and flattering for us as we age. The texture adds patterned interest which will be easy to work with when using other patterns in an outfit. And it’s lined! Oh – and thank you for using models that represent your client! Bravo!

The length of the Carla skirt looks good to me. I probably wouldn’t want it any longer. Anywhere between the top of the knee and the bottom of the knee seems right to me, but longer than that tends to be less flattering to the leg and overall body proportion. (Unless it’s a full-lnegth skirt, which is a different story.) On the website, I liked the Margot jersey top. It’s a pretty print, and the extra coverage in back is a good thing.
