We are proud to present a brand new handbag, hot off the press… The Ellen Allen Bag!

When you want to carry a bag that is a great value and be the first one on the block with one, check this out!

Wow, what a great look for Spring!

When handbag designer, Ellen Allen talks about her navy striped Murray Hill bag, she can hardly contain herself.  “It’s big, organized, and sleek.  It’s a sexy way to schlep.”  Ellen’s enthusiasm for this tote is warranted, considering her name is on the silver logo plate that has women all over Annapolis talking. As an interior designer and a parent of two young boys, Ellen found herself constantly looking for a multifunctional bag to suit her on-the-go lifestyle. But she wasn’t willing to sacrifice style. “It was most important for me to have a bag that was chic yet practical,” she said.  “Women have been choosing between fashion and practicality for years.  Why can’t we have both?”

You can’t go wrong with this festive roomy bag, that has a couture look at a fraction of the cost.

Best of all, you won’t be seeing yourself   coming and going.. this exclusive bag is new to the market! Either color just $180.00

Does your purse make you look like an old lady?

Here is a great fashion question from one of our readers: Dear Glam Gals, Wondering what handbags you would consider “old lady” and which would be considered more youthful…..thanks! L. C. Vandercook Hi L.C. We had fun looking for some good examples to share with you. Here are our Do’s and Don’ts

Example Don’t Do
This bag on the left is too stiff and old lady like, plus it’s boring beige.

See how the bag on the right is more relaxed and soft. That’s what you want. Soft is youthful and the color adds life! (Nordstroms)

You see these bags like this one the left all the time on older women. These bags look heavy and tired. Do you want to look heavy and tired too?

Try shiny black patent leather with white piping instead for a fresher, up to date look. (Black House White Market)

Patchwork may be in, but over 40,  sorry, it looks like you’ve taken up quilting.

Try a single bright pop of color with a classy touch of hardware for a  more powerful chic look. (Saks)

Red is always  cheery and can be sporty mixed with tan or brown, but this bag on the left has a boring shape making it look ho-hum.

Instead, try this cute one on the right. It’s got a less uptight shape, is also more matte, so more sporty and the tassels are a great stylish. Tally ho! (Nordstroms)

Purse Knock-offs in New York City

fake-handbags

NYC, Cannal Street

Would you go to NYC and buy a “knock off” designer handbag?

We don’t think it’s a good thing to do, but we have friends who couldn’t resist the temptation and ended up buying a knock-off or two for themselves, or their teenage daughter who was dying to own a Coach or Gucci bag.  These brands are being copied and sold  on the “infamous”  Cannal Street in New York  City . Recently, the NYC cops have been cracking down on these “knock off” vendors.
