Fuzzy Wuzzy Sweaters To Cuddle Up In

You don’t have to make massive changes in your wardrobe to stay looking modern and chic. Sometimes it’s as simple as adding some fluffy texture to update your style.

Case in point, one easy way to refresh your classic sweater + jeans look is to swap out a smooth, low texture sweater with a fuzzy eyelash fringe knit.

1. Green Eyelash Sweater

Eyelash sweaters are trendy this time of year because they are a little more dressy than your average sweater and they are super comfy too. Eyelash knits are fun for casual holiday get-togethers and so cozy by the fireplace at Christmas.

This gorgeous emerald green cropped eyelet sweater looks magnificent with black jeans, and the boatneck neckline is such a flattering shape because it makes your shoulders look broad and beautiful.

2. Color Block Eyelash Sweater

Maybe you’ve been on the fence about these sweaters because some really do look more like hairy bathmats! But there are also many out there that are pretty, darn cute. This is one of them.

I love the soft pastel colors and modern chevron pattern of this fluffy pink crewneck. These colors look fabulous with light wash jeans and taupe boots. There’s a real casual elegance to this look – fluffy but not stuffy.

3. Eyelash Cardigan

Concerned that all that fluff will make you look like a giant Abominable Snowman, or make you melt under the heeat? Try a long fuzzy cardigan over a tank or tee with a pair of jeans and some cute booties.

This is an adorable look and really makes a very basic outfit come to life!

4. Off the Shoulder Eyelash Sweater

For a more dramatic look, you can go high contrast with a jet black eyelash sweater with a sexy off the shoulder neckline.

Fuzzy eyelash sweaters that reveal your decolleatagé can look quite elegant. Just keep your accessories simple and let your fluffy sweater do all the talking.

Do you like fluffy sweaters? Where do you wear them?

How to Look Pretty in a Puff Sleeve Sweater (without looking too Princessy)

Have you noticed all the beautiful statement sweaters in stores these days? There are some really creative-looking knits out there, including this one at Nordstrom’s.

It’s pretty, isn’t it? This romantic ribbed knit sweater is from Joie, a favorite brand of mine. Joie is all about casual yet luxurious clothing and effortless style. I find their clothes very feminine and modern.

Sleeves had been a major focal point in fashion over the last couple of seasons. We’ve seen a lot of wide sleeves, long bell sleeves, and slit sleeves. Now balloon and puffy sleeves seem to the new thing. The gorgeous Juliet sleeves on this sweater (tight at the wrist and puffy at the top) make it a  “wow” top.

When I first saw this sweater, I wasn’t quite sure about the sleeves. They seemed Renaissance and princess-like. It was the vibrant desert rose color that really made me want to try it on.  But when I paired the sweater with these cute plaid cropped pants, I loved the look.

Do you see the beautiful detail on this cotton-cashmere sweater? The eyelet holes and the way they are arranged to create curves is so feminine and figure-flattering.

So what’s the key to wearing a very soft, romantic top like this without looking like a Disney princess?  You pair it with something slim-fitting, crisp, and modern. With their clean lines and menswear-inspired checks, these pants balance out the ultra-feminine look and feel of this sweater. And, the cropped pant length gives the outfit a very modern vibe.

I added fine black suede booties and my Gucci Velvet bag for an extra touch of sophistication.

Black accessories always make an outfit look chic. These are suede booties, but you could also wear leather ( also on sale).

And there’s the look! The blousy Juliet sleeves give me broad shoulders, which shrinks my waist. This sweater is great to even out your figure if you have a pear-shaped figure, creating width up top to match your wider bottom.

1. The Grandpa Cardigan

Forget the prim little cardigans we wore in our 20s and 30s. Loose and relaxed is the modern way to go. This wool and camel hair shrunken grandpa cardigan from Leith is a perfect example.  I love the gorgeous rust cider color, and the blend of wool and camel hair gives it great texture and will keep you warm this winter. You’ll wear it like crazy with jeans and a t-shirt but consider wearing this grandpa with a silk or jersey dress, the slinkier, the better, for an eye-catching and fashionable juxtaposition. Pep Up Your Wardrobe With a Black Poncho

My lifestyle is very casual, but I miss the old days when I used to get all dressed up for work, so I’m always on the lookout for something a little special- something casual but with a touch of drama to it.

I’ve always been crazy about capes and wraps,  so when I spotted this interesting poncho at the start of the season, I just had to have it.

I’ve been wearing it for about two weeks now, and boy is it ever comfy and cozy! It’s a thick black knit – pretty much a knitted square folded over – with a turtleneck and a big button on either side to give it some waist definition.

I thought at first it might wash me out but with that red underneath and some bright lipstick, I’m fine. When you love a piece, it can transform you. This poncho makes me feel casual, modern and chic. It gives me pep. Continue reading “Pep Up Your Wardrobe With a Black Poncho”

How To Wear Chunky Knits After 40

Fashion has cozied up to chunky knits this fall. It’s a great look, but can be tricky to pull off especially after 40 when your body is a little rounder and softer than it used to be. Chunky knits, if worn wrong, can make you look like a frumpy old lady. Here are some tips for how to wear them after 40.

Sweater coat: You don’t want to end up looking like you are wearing a sloppy bathrobe. Be sure your sweater coat fits properly at the shoulders and isn’t too bulky at the thighs. Also, look in the mirror and make sure the belt loops are really at your waist and not your hips. 466023_ou_pp
Cowl neck and Boat Necks: are great for pear shaped women because they add substance and width up top to balance out your silhouette.  boat neck
Patchwork can be aging after 40 making you look like a granny wearing a quilt. Choose modern color combinations like gray and yellow for an updated look. Also, reserve patchwork for weekends. It’s a very casual look.
Vertical lines: like a row of buttons, a long zipper or trim down the front elongate your body, making you appear slimmer and taller. gray cardigan
Sweaters that cascade: are soft, and artsy. Wear a very simple top underneath, so as not to compete with the sweater, and make sure it doesn’t cascade below your knees. These sweaters look great with leggings or slim pants. cacading sweater
Petites: have to be especially careful they don’t drown themselves in oversize knits. Choose knits small-medium in size, and shorter more fitted styles. blue knit
