What to Wear To A White Party

Last summer, I was in Washington, D.C., at an image consulting conference. When I looked out the window, I saw dozens of people all dressed from head to toe in white, carrying folding chairs and coolers. I had no idea what was going on.

Was this a church group of some sort? Where were they going? It turns out they were walking to an event called “Diner en Blanc” – an elegant and fun outdoor dinner party where guests are asked to dress in all white.

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to attend a similar event. I was invited to the All White Party at the rewardStyle conference. What did I wear?

White is not my best color. I look much better in off-white, or even better, cream. It goes better with my peachy complexion. I didn’t have anything appropriate in my closet, so I went out and bought this.

It’s a pretty lace top and cropped pants.  I like the classic cut, and the lace was just so cute and feminine.

I had this necklace, and it seemed to go well with the outfit. It was big but a very soft color, so it didn’t overpower.

My cropped pants were so soft and comfy, and the fit was fantastic. How do you like the Clutch? It’s the Stella Foldover clutch from GiGi New York. It’s monogrammed with my initials in gold. I LOVE this bag, the color, the quality…GiGi NY really does fabulous bags and other fine leather accessories.

Here’s another shot: Take a look at my shoes. They’re patent leather slingbacks. I think slingbacks are so ladylike but sexy, too.

Finally, do you recognize these two ladies? Beside me are blogger JoLynne Shane and a new blogger friend from England, Maria from Looking Stylish. You can see more pictures of me with them and read all about the RewardStyle conference in this fun post.

Have you ever been to a white party? What did you wear?

  1. I like the way the top skims your figure. Not too tight but not too baggy either – just right. I think we must be careful not to have things quite as tightly fitted as we get older. We can still show off our figures in a more subtle way. I like the style of your cropped pants. They look modern but still sophisticated, and it’s great that they are comfortable too. Your hair, jewelry, and shoe match! It gives excellent uniformity to the whole look. Very nice!

  2. You look beautiful and classic. I almost bought a pair of nude slingback pumps earlier this year but couldn’t justify it since I have a lot of foot(feet) problems and don’t have many opportunities to wear heels, but I still might add a pair to my shoe addiction (LOL)

I love all-white, and I would love to attend an all-white party. Maybe I’ll throw one!
