3 Tasteful Ways to Wear Jogger Pants
When someone mentions jogger pants, do you get flashbacks of 1970s Adidas tracksuits with the iconic white stripe running down the outside of the pant leg? I do!
But the thing is, jogger pants aren’t like that anymore. Modern jogger pants go beyond athletic clothing and are the new way to dress casually stylish. Here’s a look at how joggers are different this time around, and some tasteful ways to style this sporty-chic fall trend.
What’s New About Jogger Pants?
The jogger pant revival began with street-style ‘sneakerheads’ – guys and girls who are into sneakers and wanted a pant that showed their shoes to their advantage. They’ve been creeping into the mainstream for a couple of years now, and the offerings just get better and better.
Modern jogger pants are no longer plain old sweatpants. Today’s joggers are just as comfy, but they’re more tapered, less baggy, and come in all kinds of interesting fabrics and prints, like velvet, cashmere, and camo. The biggest difference is they’re often worn in dressed-up ways. In fact, you’ve probably seen photos of celebrities wearing them with stiletto heels and silky blouses for a night on the town. Joggers are great because…..
1. Joggers Can Be Dressed Up
These black crepe jogger pants (which, by the way, would make an excellent modern update to your little black pants collection, just sayin’) are a great example of a dressy jogger look. You could easily wear this to work or out for dinner with girlfriends. But wait, there’s more! When you get home from work, throw on a t-shirt and swap the heels for slides or cute sneakers and you’ve got a relaxed, casual outfit.
2. Joggers are an Alternative to Skinny Jeans
Whatever you wear with jeans – especially skinny jeans – you can wear with joggers. With a white t-shirt and slip-on sneakers, joggers are the perfect Saturday morning outfit. One of the great things that jogger pants have over jeans, however, is the variety of colors and fun patterns they come in, like these camo-print joggers with a touch of on-trend embroidery detailing. And the best part is, these joggers and both of the other two joggers I’m showing today are all under $80.
3. Joggers are the Ultimate for Lounging
As much as joggers can work for an out-and-about look, let’s be honest, the right pair, like these velour joggers from Free People, is what you dream about curling up in at home. Not only are they super soft and cozy for a night in, but they’ll also keep you looking stylish when the neighbor or paperboy unexpectedly rings the doorbell.
What do you think? Are you ready to join team-joggers?
Jogger pants are the most comfortable trousers in the world. It’s an excellent piece for working out and cozy wear. These are the best casual ways to wear jogger pants. Thanks for sharing.
As with any pants, the key is to find the right fit and fabric for your body. I got some linen joggers that I love and some in denim weight. I chose more fitted styles, and they’ve become my work-at-home uniform — trendy enough that I can throw on a jacket to walk the dog or run out for milk and still feel “dressed” but as comfy as wearing my pajama bottoms. I hope the trend sticks around for a while, as it will be hard to give them up. LOL
I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I can’t get my head wrapped around this style. The proportions seem all wrong, and the droopy crotch looks weirdly uncomfortable. I have yet to see anyone — young or old, slim or curvy, celebrity or street kid — who looks good in these.
I like the joggers; thank you for the great outfits you styled!
I’ve already bought a pair of joggers, and I’m not the type to follow trends! I’m looking forward to wearing them now that the weather has cooled down…
