Two Light Wash Jeans that get a Thumbs Up!
My husband is not one to notice small changes, but the other day, when I walked into the kitchen, he said, “I like the color of your jeans!”
Interesting! I normally wear jeans in a dark or medium wash, but when I was in Florida a few weeks ago, I picked up two pairs of light-wash blue jeans.
I’ve never been big on very faded jeans because, quite honestly, they look too distressed, tired, and worn out to me. But this spring, they seem different.
The blues look lighter, brighter, and more saturated. The washes are more even and not as distressed – at least not the ones I picked up. They still have that beachy vibe but feel modern and classy, so I’m suddenly attracted to them.
Here are the two different styles of light-wash jeans I bought, and I’m giving them a big thumbs up. Which ones do you like best?
Light Wash Jeans # 1
This first pair is the Mother Hustler Ankle Fray Light Wash Jeans. Mother is a premium denim brand that is fairly new to me. I have one other pair, but my go-to jeans before these were Paige, L’agence, and Levis.
The gal at Nordstrom, where I bought these, told me they are their number-one-selling brand, and I’m not surprised. Mother jeans feel great on. I’m usually a 27/28, but I got these in the 27, and they fit beautifully.

What I like about them is the overall look. Do you see how smooth and even the wash is? There is a bit of a fade, but it is very slow and subtle. The blue is gorgeous; wouldn’t you know it, it is a special color! This shade is a limited edition (so if you like it, I’d snap this color up fast!)
These Hustler jeans have a high rise ( 11 1/4″), which I love because they hide a muffin top. They’re a cropped flare style, which you think would be tricky to wear, but the proportions are just so ( not too wide of a flare) that they are flattering.

I wanted to try the ragged cut-off hems because they look summery. The fringe shown here is from when I bought them, but I have since trimmed them a bit. I thought they needed a slight haircut (lol!) These jeans come in a non-fray hem, too.
I’m wearing them here with a fabulous blouse that I truly adore. Look at that feminine print and those gorgeous colors. This feels unique and fresh because you normally see a lot of white with light-wash jeans, but not these colors.
My jewelry is from Dean Davidson. I’m wearing his Signature Knockout Pendant and gorgeous blue Signature Revival Gemstone Cuff. Talk about a perfect blue match for light-wash blue jeans.
My Deacon raffia sandals from Sam Edelman are also new. They are so cute with tiny beads and those big buckles, which are all the rage lately. They have a small heel, which works well with cropped flare pants. That touch of height can make all the difference in how the jeans look and feel.
Light Wash Jeans # 2
Now, onto my second pair, the Faherty Stretch Terry Wide Leg Jeans with Patch Pockets.

You would think one pair of light-wash jeans would be enough, but I couldn’t resist this cute pair of flares with the darling patch pockets.
These are from Faherty, a family brand “inspired by the sun and waves.” These jeans definitely have that vibe. They are very 70s and surfer-like to me, but they feel modern, too.
I’ve paired them with this same sweet Paris Floral Splitneck top so you can compare the two jeans.
I’m wearing their “Clearlake” wash, which you can see up close here. It’s as light as a cloud, but they have other washes, too. My raffia sandals add some earthy texture and play up that beachy look.
These are new from Marc Fisher. They’re great because they go with everything. There’s also a darker brown, which would also be nice.

The fit of these jeans is incredible. They nip at the waist, hug your hips, and gently flare out. They are also the softest and full of stretch—like wearing flare leggings.
I’ve paired them with this sweet Paris Floral Split neck top so you can easily compare them to the first pair of Mother jeans I showed you.
Don’t these jeans have a great shape! You don’t even need a belt with those cute pockets.
If you want to add a light wash style to your wardrobe, either of these jeans would be fantastic for spring/summer. They’re fresh, the light blue is pretty, and they’re youthful-looking— a great way to Tweak Your Chic!
