On The Street in NYC…What To Wear To Be Comfortable This Fall
Nothing beats NYC for culture and good food! It makes a fantastic place to scoot away to for a quick weekend trip. It’s likely you will be walking around a lot, so what do you wear on your feet so you feel comfy, but don’t look frumpy in the fall?
Many visitors spend the entire day walking around the city. It’s always lovely to visit the NYC Botanical Gardens or go to a museum. A walk in Central Park is a must, and it’s fun to rent bikes in Chelsea.
Shoes are your number one priority so do take a practical walking shoe or boot. Slip on sneakers or walking shoes with a strap are a popular choice. Black is the obvious choice to go with everything and it’s the perfect shade to wear when pounding the pavement on dirty city streets.
If it’s getting cold or snowy and you want a boot, a tall, flat riding boot is chic and comfy.
Whatever footwear you choose be sure NYC is not your testing ground to try out your new shoes or boots. Who wants blisters and aching feet when you are trying to enjoy the Big Apple?
I have to walk around NYC for about 3 hours doing my Art Gallery Walks-Chelsea @http://nycartgallerywalks@blogspot.com all the time, I will share a BIG secret! I have found that wearing East Indian Tunics made of 100% cotton is the way to go in summer. I don’t have to wear tank tops or show a lot of skin to stay cool; keeping a fresh and professional look all day. Also, making sure that my clients are looking at the Art and not at (boobs) me! Trying to stay cool and age-appropriate is a challenge that I have accomplished. My favorite shoes are Sketchers for style and comfortability. I always carry a large tote for my water bottle and other necessities.
What are Squeezy Tes shoes? Do they have another name? I tried google but it didn’t come up with any info. I haven’t heard of this footwear Down Under.
Hi Lynne,
Glad to hear these are helpful. I’d love for readers to send in their photos so others can see some attractive, comfortable shoes and not look like a typical tourists!
We love our Squeezy Tes on the streets of New York. Our president/designer and all of us sales ladies wear them ALL around town.
Thank you so much for posting these pics. I am always going places and touring places and on my feet all day walking. You cannot walk all over a city or park in flat sandals, your feet just hurt too bad at the end of the day. I must have some comfortable outfits and especially shoes for walking all day but don’t want to look frumpy. I need cute shoes with a little more arch support. These outfits are perfect and paired with some comfortable shoes.
How timely! I’m headed to NYC next month for business but need some comfortable shoes. Preferably with height. I look forward to more pictures/recommendations.
