Tall Black Boots – Your Solution to Sexy

Knowing what to wear to add just the right amount of allure to an outfit can be challenging over 40. No woman I know wants to overdo it!

Plunging necklines that dive desperately deep or thigh-high skirts that flash a load of the leg aren’t the answer. However, a pair of tall black boots can make you look sexy in a tasteful, mature way.

Here are some of the latest tall black boots for women that make a sexy statement this fall.

Black textured leather boots with a dress

1.  Textured Tall Black Boots

This must be the year of the tall, black croc boot because the stores are filled with them. This one is the Saraalan Knee High Boot by Vince Camuto.

It caught my eye because of the patchwork fabric blocking that incorporates strips of faux croc leather, black suede, and matte leather. Notice the toe? It’s almond-shaped, which is nice because it makes your legs look sexy, but it’s not so pointy that it pinches your toes.

I think it looks very sophisticated with this pretty floral wrap dress. The texture adds a lot of interest, and of course, I love the look of a long black cardigan over a dress with high black boots. So sophisticated.

2. Black Suede Over the Knee Boot

Every year I keep thinking that edgy over-the-knee booties will fade out because they have been popular for a long time, but they keep on going. They’re easy to wear because they are nice and low, and they pull on like a glove, giving you a sleek look.

I think the best way to wear them is with leggings. Create a head-to-toe black base by adding a black turtleneck. Then throw on a fabulous cape and have a slim, chic look.

What I like about this elegant pair is the chunky sculpted heel. It’s got a futuristic feel. The super pointy toe makes it very dressy.

Over-the-knee, boots like this can also work with dresses. Usually, an above-the-knee knit or sweater dress works best. Avoid shiny or patent leather over-the-knee boots as they are too, Pretty Woman

3. Tall Black Slouchy Boot

Here’s another pair of croc-tall black boots, but these have some sexy slouch. Slouchy boots have a relaxed, elegant vibe and look great with jeans, a stretchy top, and a menswear jacket. This pair is described as having  Parisian elegance with a Texan edge, so good for city and country folks!

I like the 2.5-inch skinny heel. It’s elegant and feminine, but I’m sure it is comfy too. I can’t wear those high heel boots much anymore, at least not for a long time. They bug my feet. These would be perfect.

4. Tall Black Riding Boot

Equestrian-style boots all look alike, so I was pleasantly pleased to see this bold new pair. Poland by Vince Camuto is a simple but dramatic boot that commands attention.

The military chain-link detail at the ankle is striking. Look how it dresses up a plain outfit and gives it a powerful presence. This is an excellent boot for this outfit but imagine how perfect it would look with leggings or skinny jeans tucked into it too!

The tall black boots were not just made for walking. They’re also made to turn heads! Here are some other “WOW” tall black boots you don’t want to miss seeing.

  1. At 5’2″ I think I’d be pushing it to wear boots this tall. A tall woman’s over-the-knee boots become a short woman’s thigh-high boots. Your thoughts?

    1. Hi Tamara, I think it is hard to wear tall boots sometimes if you are petite. A couple of things, try to wear a tall boot with a stacked heel to give you more height, and also the less contrast between your pants or stockings and the boots the easier it is to wear tall boots. Let me know how that works out. Cheers, Deborah

  2. Hi Robin, Unfortunately, I don’t have any budget for models, but I will round up some photos of bloggers in tall boots as the weather changes, so look for that post in a few weeks! Cheers, Deborah
