If you’re headed to NYC for some sightseeing, you’ll want to pack some comfy shoes, casual pants, and cute tops. Here’s a look at some spring and summer outfits that will make you feel right at home in The Big Apple.
Simple and Chic
A pretty blouse with a pair of relaxed jeans and some casual flats is just what you’ll need for NYC. Take along a small cross-body bag, so you can keep your hand free to take some photos and shop without having to lug around a heavy bag.
A Little Edgy
NYC is a bustling metropolis with an exciting array of people who value individuality, so if you prefer a slightly edgier look, then this may be for you. This red asymmetrical top worn with black jeans is a chic option. Finish it off with a pair of cool and comfy sneakers for all that walking you will be doing.
Feminine and Modern
Want to channel your inner “Carrie” minus the 5-inch heels? Here’s a fun NYC look that you can’t go wrong with. A sexy off the shoulder top with white pants and metallic walking shoes looks pretty but it’s practical too. Have fun in the city that never sleeps!
Do you have ideas for what to wear in NYC in June? Send a photo of what has worked for you.
Im going to new York for a couple week this summer and was wondering how hot it get? I will be doing a lot of walking so I am worried about wearing pants.
Hi Meagan, I go to NY at the beginning of August every year, and it is always very hot. I always wear cropped pants (ie: white cropped jeans and a nice v-neck cotton short sleeve or sleeveless top, and I’m fine. Sundresses are o.k. too. The key is comfy shoes. Take an umbrella too as I’ve often been there when it is super hot and humid but there is some rain- again in early August. Cheers, Deborah
I’m going to New York in April. What would be a great look to wear? Love your website. Its very informative, but yet FUN!! I’m in my Fab 50s and going to attend my niece’s Bachelorette party. She’s a Fab 50. Thank you for any advice you can share.
Hi Valerie,
Is the party at a home, a restaurant bar? It is in the evening I presume? How many women going? You could wear anything from skinny dark wash jeans, high heels, and a silky top, with jewelry to a sexy, fancy cocktail dress, depending on where the event is and sll. The main thing is you need some glamour-some bling or shine to make it fun/party/celebration feel. Hope that helps. Cheers, Deborah
You might advise your readers that there is a outlet store for Etcetera & Worth in New York! Some of my friends went when we were there about a month ago.
Hi Penny,
That is great to know… I will post about that! Did you buy anything there? Just curious!
I LOVE the dress….Etcetera doesn’t seem to be a store…how do you buy things from them? I live in Phoenix and googled it but nothing comes up.
Thanks for the help
Jennifer
Timely article!!! Going to NYC for a long weekend Nov 18th.. Will watch for the rest of the posts:) Love that dress!!! Wish I had it in my closet.
Have fun in NYC, Jennell! Yes, I love it too.. that brand, Etcetera makes some wonderful things! I think you can only get it from an Etcetera rep. though…worth looking into!
Oh my! How convenient this post is! I am planning to visit NYC during the Thanksgiving weekend and I already have black flat boots and a red coat, so I would like to have your helpful tips to build a wardrobe around this items! Thank you very much!
Hi Chris,
Sounds PERFECT.. those will be a great start! Now, all you need are some black stretch pants to tuck into the boots… a scarf and possible a little black dress with some opaque hose.
Bring band aids in case of blisters… and another pair of shoes for night.
