3 Chic Ways to Style Bermuda Shorts You May Not Have Thought Of
1. Wear Bermuda Shorts with a Blazer
Recently I shared a shorts outfit for women over 50 that consisted of black Bermuda shorts, an animal print tee, and a breezy, linen blazer. (That was way #1) Needless to say, it was a big hit. Suddenly wearing shorts seemed more doable, and many of you asked for more chic ways to style them. So here are two more great ways to dress up black Bermuda shorts that may not have crossed your mind.
2. Wear Bermuda Shorts with a Thin Kint
Black Bermuda shorts are about as sophisticated a pair of shorts as you are going to find. The color and the longer length give them a classy, grown-up look. But it’s what you wear on top that can really make the difference. Instead of reaching for a colorful cotton tee (which we often do when wearing shorts), try pairing them with a fine knit top.
This gorgeous Latte Beige knit is lightweight, soft, and luxurious. It has an elegant drape that oozes chic, and the warm neutral tone worn with black gives this outfit a very calm, elegant vibe. Front tuck this top into your shorts, leaving the sides folded under. Add a belt to dress it up. Be sure to accessories look polished.
I find that a bit of fine, modern jewelry can really elevate a shorts look. My pretty layered necklace, these hammered stud earrings, and chain bracelet are all from Dean Davidson. Dean’s jewelry is inspired by his world travels. This is from his Manhattan collection. I’ve been wearing his jewelry a lot lately because I really love it. It’s dressy, but not too dressy for every day.
Suede mules and a summery straw tote give this outfit some much-needed texture and a summery feel. And of course, I never go anywhere without my Raybans!
3. Try a white shirt with Black Bermuda Shorts
Now, for a totally different look! What’s the one thing every fashion gurus say a woman should always have in her wardrobe? – A white shirt. This summer, big, white shirts are trending, so I bought one and paired it with my black Bermuda shorts. You can’t go wrong with this monochrome combo. I wore a similar look last summer, but with white jeans and a black top. This color combo always looks great.
The crossbody phone bag I’m wearing is a handy thing to have. You can slip a credit card and your driver’s license in there, too, which is handy when you want to travel light. I’m really into mules this summer because they are comfy, and Nude mules make your legs look super long.
White would be too start and black would break the line of your legs and make them look short. Just a note about accessories. Before I added my jewelry and crossbody, I looked like a waiter. Be sure to add some bling to glam things up!
